@SL-lz9jr3 жыл бұрын
I don’t know what K1 is but I’m glad it worked out for your friend. I think if every country that receives US deportees can do something like this to give them support and utilize their skills, so many of them can rebuild their lives and have it end well. I worry that depression leads to suicide if they aren’t receiving the support they need to cope with the drastic change in their physical environment. A new country that you aren’t simply visiting for vacation seems quite shocking to me.
@c-light76243 жыл бұрын
I like stories like that, regardless of the K1 visa situation. People all around the world are slowly waking up to the reality that America is not a paradise where material comforts are obtained easily. Unfortunately, some still think the U.S. is better than their own country for opportunities. People generally don’t want to leave their home countries and families, so if they had the necessary education, skills, safety, and support, they could do well in their own countries and not feel the need to go where they’re hated, despised, or simply not wanted. I hope the shift in thinking happens soon.

@Cindy Cyanide it's not about any individual person overseas or the country that particular call center is located. That's not the point. The point is whoever implemented this practice of lying about their names only serves to comfort the feelings of closed minded and racist Americans. And to give the appearance the company has not moved jobs abroad. So I get why it's done but i don't agree with the practice at all. There is good value to having call centers abroad. It provides customers the possibility of 24 hours of support and gives that particular country jobs for it's citizens. But that's still no reason to start a call on a lie. You want my SSN? You want to verify my address? I'm giving all my info to someone who starts out a support call by lying. That's not how Customer Support should start. IMHO.

What they dont mention in this little documentary is that the call centers pay $2.05 per hour. If they dont want spanish to keep going to the US at least pay a descent amount. Being in the call center industry it has lots of stress and metrics, ang weekly goals to reach. It is a really stressful job, professional in all aspects. They add tech service to the already customer service, for the same pay. It is hard to live with $450 or $550 a month. That's the base salary plus unreachable commisions. But unfortunatelly is the only source of income in any latin country that has a better pay then others, of course, if you know how to speak English. Lets see how many americans can live with that salary... and a call center is one of the "best paid jobs".

Something that you ignore is that these call centers are runned by a french multinational that pays them cents on the dollar. For a 12 hour shift, starting salary is around $180 pesos per day...roughly $8.50 USD. And if you think the money convertion and exchange make up for the low cost of living in Mexico, you are sorely mistaken. Especially on border towns and big cities, living expenses are close to those of the US rather than Mexico's.
