Maybe this contributes to your happyness: You are not the kind of person I might have spontanously wanted to befriend in real life. But something seemed interesting in your videos. So, I stuck here. And now, well, I know you by your channel. Not you, just what you chose/choose to tell your audience. But what I've seen, I love - and a video that simply ends in "mere" contentment actually makes me a little bit happy. And what it does to me, it will do to others, too. So, I hope your ability to make complete strangers a tiny bit happy or happier may contribute to doing the same to yourself!

Lorna, Lorna, Lorna , I don't know exactly how to say this but I'll try. I've never watched a video before that's made me feel so sad. For me to say to anyone, I would like you to be happy is easy, they are only words, but I'm sure you know I mean it when I say , I want you ; to be happy. I know I can't function if I'm not happy and I don't have a clue how to advise anyone about how to achieve it. What I do know is it's not about things, like your new boat, it's just a boat, it's what you do with those things. Please don't try too hard, just ditch the things or people that make you unhappy and concentrate on all the good things you have in your life and I think you have a good few of those. So please try to keep smiling Lorna, when that new boat arrives enjoy doing what you enjoy doing with it. More importantly be good to yourself. Please take care Lorna.

My mum and dad were cremated at Breakspear Crematorium too. They have plaques there. It's a very peaceful spot. That was a lovely video. My best wishes to you. x

That's a lovely place to spend time to remember your Dad. Mine passed away 5 years ago. Per his request, I had him cremated and combined his ashes with mom who passed 15 years prior. My wife and I chartered a boat and scattered their ashes 100 yards off shore from the Dungeness Lighthouse on the Strait of Juan de Fuca in Washington state. While giving thanks for them, two 300 meter ocean going cargo ships sailed past: the first called "Celebration" the second "North Star". I took that as a message that they're happily together again and in a better place, and while I wait to join them again one day, to keep looking up. It's amazing how often I'm just puttering around the house, missing them, and feel a "nudge" to look up and there sailing past is the North Star again. It's dark blue hull and white superstructure are distinct and fairly gleam as it sails past. I always receive that as a message of encouragement from them.

Lorna thank you for sharing the scenery of that pleasant walk with us.That area of Britain is certainly lovely. I was sorry to hear that your Dad had passed; may he R.I.P. (My parents have been gone over 20 years and occasionaly,I still miss them -- Think that missing the people we have loved in life is normal. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I also lost my dad in 2003 - in February, three days before his birthday. The anniversary is always tough, and sometimes it seems like I am the only one who remembers. Just remember that there are people all around the world who you have never heard from, who care about you. If that is not the kind of happiness you seek, buy David some replacement shower pegs and tell him that's for the next time he misplaces them. 🙂

Wow thanks so much for sharing this walk. It jogged many a happy childhood memory of fun family picnics spent on this stretch of canal back in the mid 80's before moving to Hong Kong. -I'll definitely make the effort to visit next time I'm back!

Losing a parent is one of the toughest things we go through in our life. It’s 27 years since I lost my dad and 9 years since I lost my mam. Still think of both of them regularly. Was so happy this year to discover an s-vhs tape from 21 years ago of my mam just sitting, commenting on TV shows she was watching, was like time being rolled back :). Sadly don’t have an s-vhs of my dad, but I know there is video of him out there somewhere with David Attenborough at Chilingham, one day I will track it down!

I recommend vaping medical cannabis, it can help with depression and also anxiety but is dependent on the strain. Worked for me much better than SSRIs but of course everyone is different. Best wishes.

Contentment is more my thing than "Happiness" I think the notion that one must be gleeful, happy or laughing is a cultural burden. That cliché "smile dear" is so irksome, Forced happiness , like with corporate meetings and exercises, is a horror, to an introvert. I think it is more important to feel content than the construct of emotive happiness. This journey with you makes me happy; I am not jumping up and down, clapping my hands and smiling or laughing or upbeat. But I too am content and at peace. I hope you find contentment in the memories of the past, even if sad or unresolved, for they are what made you

Your not alone in your feelings, think you’ll find we all go through a point in our lives where we reevaluate what is important to us, is it our jobs, do we need a change?, are we satisfied with the way our lives are going. Think the most important thing is having the friends around us that we can talk too, like David in your case, or Shark Boy, sorry can’t remember his name, so have been referring to him as shark boy. But you get the idea. There will always be those dates when we all feel down and I’m sure your dad is proudly looking down at his daughter, at all those achievements you’ve made in your life like the football, etc… and what about the thousands of followers you have, everyday you post you bring a little bit of light into their lives, You make a difference, you matter to a lot of people in the world, it’s because of you and people like you that people like me break away from normal lives and buy Narrowboats. Your life is going through a big change, it’s normal to worry is it the right decision, your starting a new career as a boat surveyor, your having your dream boat built the way you want, this time next year you’ll be feeling amazing, settled in the new job, living at least part time on your dream boat and living the dream.
