We were called to recover a Case 580 backhoe that ended upside down in a ravine while the operator was cleaning up storm debris. The operator was fortunately able to escape with no serious injuries. We took the two ‪@NRCIndustries‬ heavies off road to get to the backhoe and get it recovered.

I'm betting the operator of that backhoe likely had to find a change of shorts after that ride! Glad to see that he made it out ok. Nice work as always for Wilcox!

We picked up the chassis and recently delivered it to NRC Industries in Quebec, and did a walk around of the chassis before we delivered it...We will feature it in another upcoming video. Estimated completion is sometime in October.

Always something different keeps things interesting! Obviously needed an excavator instead of a backhoe for a job like that but then you’d probably have been pulling it out! Take care looking forward to the next one!

The operator was carrying the large tree in the bucket when it went over the embankment, and the incline was definitely a lot worse than it was portrayed in the video. The ground was fresh/ unstable at the edge which is why we opted for both large trucks... to be able to be at full extension on the booms and still be well away from the edge.

Saw another channel who had a similar job. Problem was that they only had two smaller trucks. The weight of the wrecked vehicle outmatched the two trucks. They had to decline the job. Also, the road on top was a narrow dirt road. Difficult to get a real large wrecker to the site.

This backhoe weighed somewhere around 20K lbs. One of these trucks would have been enough to handle that weight, but since the ground was uneven and we were unsure exactly how the weight of the machine was going to transfer when uprighting and coming up the incline, we opted for both trucks.

I love watching local video's. I think it will be a total loss. You guys do great work. I bet the operator was shittin his pants when that thing flipped, thank god for ROP. I tipped one just like that about 15 yrs ago. Keep the great video comin guys.. The only thing is that your great videos come at a heavy expense fir some one else. Regards from Tiffin!!

The operator fortunately did not get injured, but sounded like he was pretty shook up! And correct, usually people are generally having a bad day if they have to call us, but we're here to help regardless of the circumstance. The videos help us show what we can do and some of the jobs we get into. Glad you enjoyed the video! 👍🏻

Case backhoes were pretty solidly built, so it looks from a casual inspection as if it fell down mostly intact. The truth, however, will be way different. They'll have to check all the hydraulics and look for metal stressing and a lot of other things that go wrong when machinery flips over. Hopefully they won't have to replace too much. It might seem easier to just write it off but some of these backhoes can cost large sums of money, new. Up to a million dollars I think, or close to that amount, in Australian dollars, at least.

Just visually, the cab appeared to be the only body damage. But yes, a thorough inspection would need to be done to find all the damage.

Thanks! We try to keep honing in on our filming, and have mainly focused on the larger jobs, or out of the ordinary jobs. Hopefully we can get to a point where we can consistently get at least 1 video per week out.

Please get a radio headset for your man in the red truck, he's deaf as a post. Every other word out of his mouth is "Huh?". This was a good recovery but it's annoying that you have to repeat your instructions so many times.

I can only imagine the noise coming from those trucks when you are that close, so I don't think it is a matter of the guy can't hear.

@WilcoxGarageRecovery
@WilcoxGarageRecovery Жыл бұрын
You would be correct! We try to adjust the audio in the video so that it isn't too overpowering at times, but the red truck especially is a very loud truck. We should have had the Sonetics headsets on, which would have eliminated the yelling. On some shorter jobs like this we don't always use them though.
