The judge unintentionally sabotaged this trial from the start by allowing it to be broadcast live. Which is ironic because even now that he has been retired for years he still won't give any interviews or talk about it. That's the way the whole trial should have been - behind closed doors with only transcripts released, like most trials.
@TDKiller4152 жыл бұрын
Thats what Hiroshi Fujisaki did at the civil trial at least, but I loved the fact that OJ's testimony was videotaped. He and Daniel Petrocelli exposed OJ as the liar he truly is. This was EXACTLY why Cochran, Shapiro and Bailey didn't want OJ on the witness stand, because they knew he was guilty and had no alibi, and if Clark and Darden cross-examined him, all of the defence theories would go out of the window. This decision in the civil trial was why OJ lost, was found liable. Even OJ's lawyer, David Baker, described Fujisaki as "a good judge, unbiased and fair."

Darden made a few good points though. I mean, Cochran basically used this case, basically using the murders of two innocent people, for his own personal agenda

And to this day, some blacks still consider him a bigger hero than Thurgood Marshall, Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks or Barack Obama, just because he got the high and mighty OJ Simpson off for killing two innocent whites and enabled white people to "know how it feels" when racism denies them justice. Thats the religion of "Tit for Tat". Its what they follow.

What Cochran did was based on dishonesty. He didn't defend OJ, he prosecuted the system. In any other trial he would've been ordered to stay with the facts of the case itself, not run his mouth about race and police corruption. Had Ito kept race out of the trial like Hiroshi Fujisaki did in the civil trial, OJ would've had a much weaker chance of walking.

i can see why a prosecutor would be annoyed by johnnie cochran's actions. Contrary to popular belief, Criminal prosecution and defense are not at each other's throats. The process is adversarial, but it doesn't have to be hostile. The defense and prosecution are there for the same reason: justice. Both sides should want the perpetrator of the serious crime to be brought to justice. Cochran's actions shows us he wasn't concerned about justice, he was concerned about clout and winning. When a lawyer like this is only concerned with winning, the community loses. the prosecution did their due diligence. if it was any other case, the defense would advise their client to take a plea. Cochran is given too much credit to being a good "lawyer". he's a dirty huckster and charlatan.
