I love this channel! I am not bombarded with a slew of garbage to buy, being asked 15 times to like and subscribe, no gimmicky guests, no token garbage. Just a good ol' boy out fishin' and teaching us a few things along the way. The world needs more folks like you Gene. Thank you very much for sharing your time with us. I, for one, appreciate it.

For a person like me that has took up the sport second to none this is by far my favourite channel. Thank you Richard for teaching me the how's, what, when, and where's of fishing. Your channel is the most concise when it comes to teaching the sport of fishing. From the how to rig your line, what lures or baits to use in a particular situation, where to find the fish in different conditions, and mostly, the catching of the fish. I want to wish you, momma Sue and Elmo a very blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year and remember go fishing when you can because it's good fer ya❤

I’ve been a subscriber for about two weeks. I have watched around 100 of Richard’s videos. When you watch one it’s like you are in the boat or on the bank with a ole friend saying “let me show you what I know about this sport that’s second to none”. Steve “The Old Fisherman” said you was going to be his way soon, I told him and I will tell you I’m looking forward to that video. Thanks again.

Great stuff, Richard. First discovered you in Spring when searching for how to tie on a jig. I got in a few trips when I could and the wife and I got a lot of fun bluegill and a few bass. The more I'd watch your stuff, the more I'd try. We switched to using the bluegill to catch bass and has finally ended this first year of watching you by going catfishing a couple times. Now I only had 1 keeper bluegill and 1 keeper bass and no catfish yet, but we have a room full of rods and reels after starting with zero gear, a tackle box full of promise, and a definite yearning for next year. You kept us just a little settled and a lot entertained this year. Thanks a lot, Richard.

Can you use circle hooks doin that type of fishin???
@fishingangler43154 жыл бұрын
You can try.
@fishingangler43154 жыл бұрын
@Biggs That's what's fishing's about. Going out and trying stuff. I've only heard of using circle hooks for catfish but that's not to say they wont work when using live bait for bass. He does demonstrate what happens as the hook gets set after a bass has committed to putting the bait in it's mouth. Unfortunately, Richard doesn't use circle hooks with this type of fishing but I think a small sized circle hook would work. Then again I've never tried it. For best results stick with what Richard uses ;)

@@kstimberghost3283 When my kids were little in Wichita Kansas in the early 90's I would use crawfish for bait while fishing for catfish. Didn't matter if we were fishing a river or a pond the crawfish was the go to bait for all species of fish. I just started fishing again & take the grandkids but had forgotten about using crawdads.
@SWAMPHUNTER6443 жыл бұрын
I used to fish for brook trout on an Adirondack river. There wore crayfish is some sections. They would grab your worm and hide it under a rock. If I could get it out of the water before I got snagged, I would cut the tail off and remove all the exoskeloton from the chunk of white meat inside. I'd put it on my hook and it was almost guaranteed to catch a trout. Sometimes, I'd leave a couple sections of exoskeletons on so it would stay on the hook longer. The crayfish work well for smallmouth bass on Lake Ontario near the shoreline. Bait your hook with one and drag a weight over the bottom to stir up the crayfish in the rocks on the bottom in the area of your line. The bass can't tell the difference.

Hey Richard, I heard in another video you said you would have to go to Ohio for big walleye. My husband fishes Cordell Hull Dam in TN it's 166 miles or 3 hours away from Guntersville. In the past 10 years Cordell Hull has produced several 15 16lb Walleyes. It's awesome for sauger as well. Just thought I'd put that out there also Cordell Hull is the location Ralph Dallas caught the world record striper 65lb although it's state record now I think anyway Cordell Hull has abudantcy of fish and I know it be worth the drive. We love you re positivity and your love for fishing we try to take something from each video you make thanks.
