I had this as my bedroom music system for years - it was exceptionally neat. Kind of amazed to see these now go for quite a lot of money though! The only downside was that when dust got in the mechanism it was basically impossible to clean it out.

There's a few of these out there, though its more common for there to be a translucent door that moves out of the way. This is probably a better idea too, as it makes cleaning the tray easier. I bought mine at BestBuy around 25 years ago. And I think it was around $300 back then, which was quite a lot of money. I still have it and it still works flawlessly. And the speakers are pretty good!

@@joeMW284 definitely, but unfortunately they aren't too common. It looks like a lot of new portables do, but I suppose if they were mostly in a case, bag or not really being viewed, it makes sense for most not to have the cd visible, but the ones that do are cool nonetheless.

I miss those days back in the early and mid-2000s even the late '90s when I was a little kid having a CD play in your room with a TVs stand or a TV center in your room filled with CDs and you had a CD player with the speakers all the way around your room It was pretty nostalgic I wish people was to go back to CDs I miss them kind of

I love this CD player! The one I have was my grandpas, bought another one for like 50 bucks for replacement parts. At one point the disks wouldn't come up again, after opening it I found that the rubber belt for the motor was quite loose two cuts later and some solvent later it was as good as new.

This reminds me of the show nip tuck, they had a beosound 3000. That only lets you see the edge of the disc playing, and it costs a fortune. This is a sweet CD player!

I was gifted one of these and have been using it as tv speakers for a while. The CD player gets stuck when I try to eject the disc so I pretty much gave up on this unique feature. It’s also missing a remote that supposedly shipped in the original box.

I got one (actually a ex100) for £6 from a 'bootsale' about 15 years ago. After watching '12 Volt Videos' repair a ex1, I repaired mine (slipping load belt !) Actually i've another, much bigger Sony that is supposed to 'hang on the wall' and that cost me £6.50 plus some diesel to get me to Watford to collect it !
