The tone seems pretty intact, but what doesn't convince me is the calibration curve of the whammy bar. It seems that it acts more at the very ends of the movement range of the arm. It seems that there is kinda of a 'dead zone'. But this doesn't seems impossible to fix in the future, but would be a pretty stupid mistake which really affectd the user experience

Compared to the cost buying a decent quality Floyd Rose and then paying a luthier to route out your guitar and properly install said FR system, $499 is not unreasonable. Having said that, I’d still spring for it sooner than later at the $399 price point. If either price is still too rich for you, wait a year because Joyo or Mooer will probably offer one at half the current price…because that’s the world we live in.

Pretty cool for creative purposes, I'm curious about the volume changes with it. Apparently there is a new feature that turns the whammy into a volume control. Ultimately what I'd like to see see someone invent is a Hammond organ Key-Percussion effect, but on guitar. Key percussion came with the B3, M3, RT3, C3 organs in 1955. It finally allowed the organist to accent notes at will by adding a harmonic of the note to accent the played note. The first key or parallel keys struck would get the accent until the keyboard was free of held notes. If you wanted no accent you just make sure a key is depressed, but the split second you want an accent you simply lift your fingers. Why did it work at will? Because the organ has two keyboards and the solo manual (upper manual) is the one with the Key-Perc. Your lower keyboard remains free of accents, and accent cancelling. Watch a Jimmy Smith video and you'll begin to understand. Watch his right hand on the upper keyboard.

I can't imagine any regular whammy bar user feeling this would replace a conventional tremolo. It's not IF there is lag it's HOW MUCH lag. and any lag is gonna break a guitar players brain. Cool idea as a gimmick. And as a digital CAPO also. EVH or Vai would have this gathering dust in a closet.
@Obxhatman2 жыл бұрын
Its not that good , its ok if you are looking to add whammy features to a SG or a LP or something. It lacks resistance and it lacks the same feel we have all come accustomed too. It needs a physical spring for resistance only but the algorithm of the tone needs to be tweaked for that as well to account for that resistance. It needs a hard mount plate that stays on the guitar with screws. You buy additional plates for additional guitars. Then two springs to load tension in the housing that is sealed that provides down and upward resistance. It also needs an arm that is round and very similar in feel to others at the same angles. It might make the unit a little wider but it would give the feel people want with the ability to do other things from a digital standpoint.

Well its about freaking time!!! Thank YOU! MORE of these inventions like this please. I would seriously consider this for my music ideas. Questions: HOW long will the parts last? How durable is it? What is the price of maintenance or replacement if/when it fails? Just curious about where and tear - cost of ownership and dependability. This is very cool.
@DaniloVicari2 жыл бұрын
Hey! So I don’t know how durable this is, I only had it for a month now. I’m pretty sure it has 2 years warranty brand new and the whammy bar it’s not made by a cheap plastic. I’m sure you can reach out to Fomo FX directly on their website to know more about replacement parts!
@peterwalker78622 жыл бұрын
Hi... The body, arm and fittings are all machined from aerospace-grade aluminum, then double anodised to prevent corrosion etc. The predicted lifetime is 20+ years - the pitch accuracy is guaranteed for life and there's no maintenance required. The stompbox is solid cast aluminum with long-life footswitches etc. We're both guitar players and have done many, many tours so we know what happens 'on the road'. We built VJP to withstand that! Cheers....... Peter and Ian, FOMOfx
