This Channel and Payday 2 (Update 237)

I knew a video like this would happen but not this early. Update 237 surely comes with an unexpected new addition that basically ruins the entire game.
For me and many other friends of mine said that they are quitting payday 2 now, including some youtubers.
It is a sad thing to witness but for my channel this isn't too bad as I wanted to switch up content for a while now and this is a good opportunity to do so.

You screwed it up with the latest update Overkill. I will use the list of someone who summed it up pretty nicely with some commentary from myself. 1. The game now is reliant on Epic servers, so if anything happens, you're screwed, in comparison to the game always working before. 2. Linux is officially a dead platform for Payday 2. 3. Numerous options for multiplayer were removed, specifically having to do with the single most important aspect of matchmaking, the connection. 4. Way fewer matches being shown in matchmaking screen. 5. The matchmaking that does happen somehow matches me with players that are far worse to play with on a connection level or when it comes to just, overall enjoy-ability (a lot of toxic players coming over to this game, you can notice this pretty immediatly) 6. Weapon skins have been reported for certain players to be acting all sorts of goofy. (This one is especially suspicious.) 7. Other players have been reported completely losing their progress. 8. Then there is the problem of not being able to play with friends on Steam as a Steam player that players have reported experiencing. 9. The other complication of playing with friends. Now you have to do a bunch of weird stuff along with using some dumb lobby code that is always in the players face in the UI in order to, have the chance, of being able to play with another friennd. 10. Speaking of which, simply inviting on Steam no longer works and probably never will. 11. Side jobs and events are completely screwed up. 12. Mods are also completely ruined. 13. Certain exclusive items are also reportedly either getting locked back up, or for some reason, some players just randomly get them, but then get marked as a cheater. (I myself got the poker card masks, knave, queen, king and joker and I don't recall to have ever obtained those back in 2015) tl;dr This is another fiasco of a stupid idea from Starbreeze and overkill studios that everyone hates, along the same level of other mistakes such as Crimefest 2015 and the h3h3 pack. Listen Overkill, do the smart thing, delete this update, revert back, this didn't help it hindered, this didn't update, it downgraded. We have never asked for this, we have never wanted this and we also will never ask nor want this EVER!!!

The fact that they spit on the face of almost 40k online loyal players cuz they thought epic games would get them a lot more…they could have just dish out the new dlc map alongside some other dlcs like skins n weapons etc and just give this to the community and we will be happy and waiting on pd3 but NO greed is such an aspect of this movement that OVK did there… i just bought a mod pack to use it to try some weapons i had in mind, guess i just burned 10 bucks for no reason

I think its both. Testing crossplatform & getting those cash to develop payday 3 since their DLC after ultimate/legacy editions dont fund well to Payday 3 it seems. The saddest things is they done it very very poorly, even the matchmaking codes UI like coming from compiler and they never implement copy paste correctly in payday 2 anyway.

You can only play with others who also downgraded. There’s only the community left to fix overkills sorry excuse of an update.

Payday has been going downhill post white house, but what they done recently is fucked up. The way that you can't play in public lobbies shows how much the devs sorta left this game to rot, linux is dead in terms of payday, and the game relies on epic, meaning if the epic servers go down, noone plays. I hope that the least they will do is make epic players to just play with epic players. (I'm sorry for any grammatical errors, but my english isn't the best)

I was initially hesitant to bash overkill for u237, because they aren't in the best position financially, and a lot of decisions made are dictated by money. Having said that, they broke the game. Online play isn't an option anymore, and christmas 2022 items are locked. Keep steam separate or at least make it optional, and fix the event stuff. I want my North Stars back.

I find it funny, I was literally in the middle of a heist before the update hit, biker heist on DSOD (pain) and literally 2m from the escape and the game crashed... then updated. My confusion and pure defeat after that moment just felt... hollowing. Especially since me and my friends cant even connect to a lobby to try it again. btw theres a bug rn which if you try to copy the lobby code too many times theres a good chance your game will break entirely and reset your entire payday 2 account, which ive seen already multiple close friends happen to. Good job starbreeze

The fact that Notoriety, a game that started as a copy of Payday 2 on Roblox, is doing much better regarding bugs, greed, and scandals than actual Payday 2 now, and has developers that actually listen to community feedback and care for their game, is honestly pretty sad.

We knew the real heisting was on our wallets: 2015 microtransactions and 2019 Silk Road campaign, the latter of which was effectively reneging their promise to offer all future DLCs for free. I predict that after enough time passes, the shitstorm that is U237 will be forgotten and people will join the Payday 3 hype train, allowing Starbreeze and Overkill to return to their scummy practices. Best case scenario is U238 fixes the shit on the fan but the practices of Payday 2 continue on to Payday 3.

I dont think the game was ever built to handle crossplay or the amount of servers constantly being created or closed at once, They also changed something so BLT no longer works, This update by far is the worst I've ever seen EDIT: They released a patch today that hopefully fixes these issues, they fixed the side job resets at least

So that's what causing my lobbies to be fucky (love that one time one player took ages to join my stealth lobby - which I did because I just reached Infamy and had to relevel all over again - and caused my team to break stealth because it took so long my ECM ran out and all interactions were cancelled). Also not sure if the "_____" player is the same I found, but the one I got was a Wick that constantly broke stealth because he didn't get any silencers (so he probably didn't even did the tutorial heists). 10/10 update, Overkill

i had a project that i wanted to work on payday as a way to practise video editing but the state that the game is in makes it bassicaly unplayable for me, my best friend who plays vannila can't even join my lobby i can't join pubs i can only host which might as well be called offline because people can't find my lobby, my life blood for payday 2 is pubs and friends but i literaly can't do neither of those things at this point i think i might as well make content from other games or streaming a lot more. i really wanted to make the video but my fun in making the video will go to hell as i would need to solo 5 more dsod heist in diferent maps which the planed was to play the maps in pubs but the egs update happend

Had this happen but on different front. I was creating stealth heist (bank gold for 10% bonus in exp for holdout), and got constantly failed disconnects from other players when they joined. It got annoying when every 5 seconds someone is joining for half a minute only to leave or mess up.

1: I currently main Driller 2: Player rank is 64 3: So I have been playing the game for a year or so already but I had massive breaks since I never really was able to get in the grind all that well, but that has changed now as PD2 is gone, I spent like 8 hours the other day playing it so safe to say I do absolutely enjoy it. It's an amazing game with amazing developers behind it that actually care about their game and community, unlike Starbreeze and with Payday. 4: I do dig gold but it's usually for my friends that are new to the game, when I am solo I only dig it whenever I really feel like it. Sometimes I straight up ignore it when I play harder stuff like Hazard 6 or 6x2. It depends on the situation. Payday 3's gameplay honestly doesn't look too bad, it has some minor visual issues in the trailer but it's nothing too bad, gameplay could be better but it's not the worst. I am interested in some of the ideas they have implemented thus far, for example cloakers wallrun coming back from PDTH or how they move hostages now. That does look pretty nice but with now gameplay seen I am honestly way more scared about pricing. The base game is already 40€ which seems overpriced to me already, but the fact that you can buy a 90€ Gold Edition Season pass that gives a whopping 4 Heists is extremely scummy to me. Not to mention the microtransactions that come with the game. It might even end up being a Pay to Win game. From what I have seen so far I am honestly disappointed, while the gameplay again looks alright I am really not a fan of all the money they want to steal out of your pocket. With that said I will get the standard edition just so I can test it out but if it will be any bad as in buggy or non enjoyable I will be quitting. For a game that wants your money that bad I expect good quality, if it doesn't deliver then I will straight up ignore it. Comparing Payday 3 to Deep Rock Galactic is almost a joke. DRG costs 30€ and gives you almost every piece of content immediately, there are seasons but they are all free, the DLCs are purely cosmetic so they don't give you any advantage. It is insanely fun and actually works amazingly well. Payday 2 has almost every content locked behind a paywall and Payday 3 will be similar most likely but now with overpriced season passes and MTX. I will play DRG over Payday 3 anytime as I can tell you already that PD3 won't even come close to the game that DRG is. But hey maybe PD3 won't be that bad and I am just overreacting, who knows really but currently it is looking really not all that good. tl:dr pd3 gameplay is decent but its too expensive with all the garbage season passes and microtransactions, those things ruin that game. Play DRG instead.

Sadly nothing is eternal so the devs will rather get greedy themselfes, or a big company/celebraty buy Ghostship and do it themselfes. But now its a realy good game that i like. Its almost perfect and its nice that you moved on to it. You could also try MVM (mann versus mashine) its not a so big (case its not a separate game) but its still fun! And Payday 3...

I was still missing two of the side missions. And then I had to restart everything. At first I thought it was a malfunction of my backup. Now I have way less hours than you, but I still thought about quitting. After the game made a small update, everything is back. It even unlocked the stuff I was still missing. But yeah, I didn't try the online stuff yet.

Played the game back on my Xbox 360 for a good deal of time, then picked it up again when it became temporarily free on Steam back in 2017. It's a great game, plagued by poor balancing, performance, and overall design philosophy. Despite that, I hit 1000 hours just a few days ago, as Payday 2 is quite the guilty pleasure, I admit. And like clockwork, update 237 comes out, ensuring that I will leave it at just 1000 hours. Definitely a massive disappointment.

i spended over 550 hours and i give a really big fck about this game.But after this update i am really dissapointed and betrayed by overkill, I spended 60 euros worth of dlcs and i cant even access them because they are locked. Overkill doesnt admire this game which i love and respect. i dont want to get started about payday crime war its a failure with fps drops and over heating problems appering out of nowhere when i open the app. I feel betrayed by overkill if they dont do somethink about the whole situation with payday 2 i will ask for a refund if possible because they just dont deserve my money.

The Fix only really helped with small things such as sidejobs not being reset again, but the main issue is still there and will probably be there forever

quit pd2 around end of december start of january cause it was getting fun, just when i was starting to think about playing payday 2 again overkill crushes that thought instantly i hope gta v and gtao will be good enough to tide me over to payday 3 and even then it doesn't seem good at all

There is always Payday:The Heist as a good alternative, sadly that game doesn't have nearly as much content as Payday 2 but its still pretty fun at least.

Sad to hear that about payday 2, always liked the game. Reinstaleld the game because i felt like it, my weapons got locked up and to unlock them i needed to make a starbreeze account or join a payday 2 steam group. ALL of the weapons were DLC (paid). thats fucking funny. But yeah i cant talk about the other problems cuz i just uninstalled it on the spot (and payday 3 microtransactions leak also sad and stupid)

Yea I will return for PD3 to check it out, but as I said in the video if it wont be any good I will not be sticking around and make more videos on it, but there most likely will be at least 1 for it even if the game flops. If it actually turns out to be playable then yea sure I will be doing lots of content on it.
