Kinda have a different way of looking at it. Yuji tears up because it potentially might be more of a goodbye scene/last moment. That's why he says 'it would be sad without you'. He might be slowly coming to terms with the fact that he might have to off his friend as Sukuna is too much of a threat to be left alive for too long. The longer he stays the longer he adapts and potentially harms people or succeeds. Yuji sees and empathizes with why Megumi wouldn't want to do anything and wants to save his friend, doesn't want to impose his will or beliefs on Megumi but also needs to stop Sukuna. It's like a last attempt to try and make him see he can make a choice or something before potentially having to resort to a riskier way of stopping Sukuna which might harm/off Megumi.

To clarify how Sukuna was able to get domain expansion back, he said that it would be too risky to use the same method as gojo to heal out his burnt technique by using reverse cursed technique. This is because he has already sustained brain damage from his fight with gojo but hasnt fully recovered from it yet. You can see when Gojo overused this method to get his technique back after domain clashing with Sukuna he ends up bleeding from his nose and unable to do domain. In this chapter you can see that Sukuna starts bleeding from the nose as soon as he says domain expansion, meaning that did opt to use the rct technique that Gojo used to bring back his own burnt out technique, because he realized Yujis punches are far more dangerous than the possible further brain damage he will take from pulling this stunt rn. Losing for Sukuna is equal to death, so its clear he will go any length to win even if it comes with having to pull very risky maneuvers to make it happen. Hes on his very last legs. My prediction about the finger: It seems Yuta lied about eating one of Sukunas fingers to copy cleave from him. Sukuna looks shocked to see Yuji missing 2 fingers when he broke Yujis fist gauntlets. The pinky finger has been missing for Yuji ever since Sukuna used it to make a finger and jump into megumi. However what about the other ring finger he is missing? Thats the key here. Yuji used to gauntlets to hide that he is missing another finger, and I think that is because Yuji had Rika eat the ring finger so she can copy cleave off him and not off Sukuna. So sukuna is realizing in the last panel, that his last finger is somewhere out there, and it appears that its been hidden somewhere under jujutsu high as per the spiraling staircase. The final finger could have been placed their ritualisticy in an attempt to reanimate sukuno even if weakened then to take over his body that was equally preserved in ritual. The body easy for gojo to find. However gojo let sakuno kill him so gojo could see the final finger. Probably placed their by the individual that first introduced themselves to sakuno and he recognized his old comrade. While the reason gojo hijacked sakuno's vision was to get eyes on the final fingers location. For gojo the way the finger was placed makes it appear to him all throughout Japan I think it was jjk was centered in. Hence the need to highjack sakuno's sight when sakuno attempts to domain expand unlimited void. While the panel switching to ichidori is how all he needed from sakuno was his lapse in judgment. As gojo uses reverse curse technique amplified by unlimited void. And attempt's to take care of the final finger in quick succession immediately after sakuno released unlimited void a saw the same thing... I say attempt because the next hit sakuno is going to take from ichidori will send him to reanimate from the final finger. Where sakuno has to make a break for his preserved body in hopes of gaining enough cursed energy to sustain gojos onslaught.

I wouldn't trust the official translation, "Malevolent Shrine" wasn't "wasted". what he said there in an accurate translation is "Mahoraga being destroyed by Satoru Gojo caused my Ten Shadows to cease to function.." hence why this means that the shadow that tripped him over was Megumi's, not his own.
