Sweet lens but most of all, your talent is 10x the quality of the lens. Your storytelling, framing, editing, choice of music are on point. I like that you’re not afraid to go with a retro ratio too. Very well done.

DZO are great. Chinese brand and for people that understand post production and lighting techniques fairly well with a few other bits and pieces equipment wise, it can help the filmmakers achieve a “cinematic” look.

As a novice/noob I may be speaking from inexperience/ignorance, but I categorize the term “cheap” as subjective. This lens is around the $1K to $1.5K price range. Perhaps that is “cheap” for a cinema lens. Again, I have no experience in this field. But it was definitely on the pricey side (for me). However, I will mention that based on your footage, it does in fact seem like a great lens. You have talent, I like your shooting style, quality and color. Props! Thank you for sharing! Keep it up!

Very cheap for a cinema lens.
@baileythefilmmaker Жыл бұрын
I totally get what you are saying, a lot of cinema lenses do seem extremely expensive, if you are just starting out, depending on what type of sensor you are using, I would recommend the 7Artisans Spectrum lineup of cinema lenses. The lenses are about £350-£450 which might be in your budget. I would also recommend if you are a complete beginner, renting gear. Sites like Fat Llama let you rent full rigged out cinema cameras fro as little as £60 a day - I recently rented a Sony fx6 with two meike cine primes, follow focus, a v-mount battery, a tripod, lav mics, memory cards, and a atmos nija v for just £150 a day.
@maddogtank84258 ай бұрын
I mean seeing that a lot of cinema glass can top up to 30 $40,000. Yeah this is pretty cheap I mean look at it like this my camera costs $9000 all of the accessories I have for it and like white stands and stuff I’m like in $15,000 already the lens for my camera which is a 17 to 28 mm power zoom. It’s also a cinema lens cost 1100 and that’s pretty cheap.

(I actually had to stop and take notes for a moment before I watched the rest of this) This may be one of the best demonstration videos that I've ever seen. Using your own daily routine to showcase your filmography is nothing short of brilliant - it requires little more than you, your gear, and then setting up your shots and landing them. Not only that, you *nailed* it. You're showing your own routine, artisticaly, and it resonates. You're capturing it beatifully, and that's inspirational. You make me want to be better at this, too. Thank you. (Also, +10 million for cat cameoes) Thank you for sharing your art and your insights

Don't know if it helps or whether you will wanna do it, but to escape from the mounting problem, I would probably go for a smallrig elevatable base plate, with a lens support + rod support, then you're free to keep your body mounted, while also having lens support and they will all stay intact while you're doing it. All those will set you back about a little more than 200 bucks I believe (could be very modest in the states). Anyway good video !

Great vid, love how you compose portraits with a wider lens. Boring technical stuff from a lens nerd: The DZO lenses fall out of calibration super quick. Probably not too relevant to how you shoot but the reference marks will drift with use; either requiring shimming the lens / adapter or the lens will require a professional service. If you're not zone focusing or taking measurements for focus then it's a non issue until infinity drifts too close and the furthest subject you can focus to is 100' away.

My Brother, this filming is superb in every aspect. As a photo & video enthusiast, I still use an older EF mount DSLRs. To have some fun, I started builiding a rig. I'm hoping to acquire an inexpensive cine lens to experiment with. Also, I do the flowers in our home both for my lovely wife and me. Lastly, that road bike looks nice. 🙂 ...peace & hope.

Tbh, now this is coming from someone who don’t know much about cinematography, i can’t really tell the difference in video from a photography lens and a cinema lens. Except for the anamorphic, those do have strong characteristics that make them stand out. Nevertheless, beautiful video work. I always love to see your videos!
@vuhlandes Жыл бұрын
It’s hard to see differences through a KZbin video. Focus falloff is a major difference, focus breathing, the build of the lens, the aperture, and Allen’s character. You probably won’t notice but there’s a reason why some things feel different than other things and that’s the big difference.
@jameschurro Жыл бұрын
