I enjoy all of your videos, Trevor. I especially appreciate the ones where you go back to your roots and revisit the early days. Not because they feel sentimental, but because so many that enjoy your channel are beginners, and you've never forgotten what that is like, wondering if they can do it, too. I watch this video and realize "Hey, I can do that." And that's what I'm going to do. Thanks man!

Thank you so much, Trevor. This is actually (about to be) my exact setup. I recently bought an EOS Rebel T7 for mainly astrophotography but as I started taking normal photos too I really fell in love with it as well. Just a few hours ago I was finally able to order my long-awaited Star Adventurer 2i Pro Pack. I'm thinking of also buying a new tripod because I am using an old one and I don't really trust it. My camera came loose out of nowhere on it (yes, I caught it). I also will buy a ball head because I've seen a lot of astrophotographers and especially you recommend them. My main point of all of this is that you have inspired me to start astrophotography and have been such a huge help in getting me started. So far I am really proud of the untracked Milky Way shots that I have achieved. So much color and detail after stacking and Photoshop. I started doing calibration frames and stuff and that helped too. I've always been interested in space and photos from it, but you are one of the main people that have helped me actually make my dream of starting to do it myself come true. I really appreciate you and what you do and I hope you continue to share your astrophotography journies for as long as you can. Thank you, a lot.

I really enjoyed the message at the end of this one. From Alabama, US, which seems to be notorious for being cloudy whenever anything cosmic occurs. I spent the other night complaining about the light pollution around my area, the fact my tracking mount hasn't shipped nearly 6 months later, and anything else that could come to mind. But just before the meteors started rolling in, I had an epiphany about how people in the past didn't worry about technology, they just watched the stars. I put my limited equipment away, reclined and just enjoyed the show for the first time in a long time.

I never feel more at peace until I'm under that night sky. I am fortunate enough on a dark night to be able to see the milky way right from my backyard. At this point I use my tamron 70 to 300 (similar to the canon lens in video)to capture most of my deep sky objects so far. Although a wide 50mm f1.8 (always stop down!!!)on a canon rebel t7i has been my choice lately capturing multiple nebulae at once. Better light better glass with the nifty fifty, But enough exposure time at 300mm @ F5.6 will get great results. Fun fact: I use the canon 70-300mm profile correction in lightroom when using the Tamron lol. Great capture. Clear skies 📷 🌌

Just yesterday I was outside taking pictures and thinking about the same question as I was standing there alone... you really do feel a deeper connection with everything around you. I actually began wondering if somewhere there was another creature in this fast universe looking toward us, doing what I was doing and wondering as I was wondering. I've actually given it a name, I like to imagine it will be my counterpart out there in the Universe. Might sound strange, but fills me with a feeling of connection to something bigger. :)

Two things, Trevor: 1) I totally agree with the philosophy of the connectedness. Just last week I was showing a photo I took of the craters Theophilus, Cyrillus, and Catharina to a local shopkeeper with whom I'm acquainted. She's from Syria and speaks limited English. She squinted at the photo, head at a slight angle as she processed what she was seeing. When she got it, a literal shockwave of comprehension exploded across her face; her squint turned to wide-eyed surprise, her pupils dilated, her jaw when slack and she took a half-step back like she'd been punched. After a second, she leaned back in for a closer look. Her response reflects what I've seen from people for a few decades now after sharing photos and thousands of telescopic views with random strangers on street corners. I think it is a primal feeling of seeing something not of this Earth for the first time, and making one understand their place in the universe. Thing the second: Why the ball mount, as opposed to a declination bracket?

Trevor, you pulled some heart strings of mine at the end of the video. Our evolutionary history as humans until the past couple hundred years has been tightly connected to the night sky. For example, nighttime events would often be planned by the cycle of the moon and we easily navigated using the night sky, and even the sun. If you saw what the night sky looks like for me, you might cry. My wife wonders why I don't use my telescope more (she bought it for me)... well, because we live next to a mall and having parking lot lights in the back and front of our townhouse. Oh, and there are high voltage power lines that are in my only field of view. So parking lot lights and a couple dozen power lines. All I can really do is look at the moon. At least I'm getting to learn a lot for when I put my telescope to use.

Quick question the Rebel is a crop sensor at 1.6 so was the 200mm pre-crop mm or is after (200*1.6=320mm) Also the f-Stop would need the same math of 6.3*1.6=10.8... I have a Canon 28-300mm and curious where I would start my settings at... Great video you got me pumped to get out the do the same. I don't have a camera sky tracker but I do have a scope with a dslr mount on it...
