I like seeing you demo high end amps and all but really dig it when you demo something that is in the price range that everyone can afford.

Yeah I got one of these recently and it rips. Absolutely one of the best high gain distortion pedals you’re ever gonna find for sixty bucks. It’s a one channel version of the KRS Ceres.

The recent selection of preamp pedals coming out is blowing my mind. Like, you can get this, a soldano pedal, Rev, AMT...etc, and have a ton of different tones for recording fairly easily.
@RokDAWG1 Жыл бұрын
I dig that you’re using an expensive amp as well as lower costing amps or that move directly into the daw. That’s hitting a lot of different players! As far as the pedal goes, dude I’m surprised! Wow sometimes those lower costing pedals just have the magic in them! Those lower tones are crushing! Very cool! Awesome demo yo! 🤘🤘
@sb632 Жыл бұрын
That's a crazy tone! In a good way. For 70 bucks you can't beat it honestly. Combine that with something like a boss katana 100 2x12 combo and you have a VERY cheap badass sounding rig

Sounds phenomenal for the price. I don’t know if you saw my comment on your other video but I just recently got the Argos overdrive from Joyo which is based on the precision drive from horizon devices and it is phenomenal and it was only 40 bucks. love their stuff

Joyo are absolutely killing it lately. Almost all of their new large box pedals sound great! They've also released a couple of bass pedals in this format that are killer sounding. I'm guessing that this one is geared towards the Friedman BE/hotrod Marshall kinda preamp, but I'm not sure. Would be great to see you compare it to the Chopper-Z preamp pedal!

Dude, thanks for helping to make some more tones than are helping form a better description of tones that are better for single note/technical playing. I have had the opinion for a short while now that the "honkier" tones are better for technical stuff, they tend to be clearer and punch through a mix much nicer. Greenbacks and Creambacks lean toward that description. 3 or more string chords and it gets funky though, high gain stuff that is. If doing a lot of 3+ string chords, a bit of mid scoop does tend to mitigate the tendancy to turn it all into an indecipherable ball of white noise.

dude, look up the tpa-1 by emissary. it is a vst plugin that emulates the power amp. if you put that before your impulse response with this preamp pedal you could get some seriously killer recording tones. It gives you the choice between power tube types, sag, presence and depth. The plugin is absolutely free too!

Wow, I was about to invest in a $160 preamp pedal but now I’m reconsidering. That sounds pretty amazing. I just bought a new Jackson JS32 that’s gonna get a set of Dimarzios or Duncan’s at some point so I might have to get one of these cuz I really like that tight tone. I wonder how that would sound through the power amp of my JCM800?

Probably mean “amp head tones” with the mod switch, like different models of a marshall with different levels of head room
@coreyrramsay88588 ай бұрын
This pedal is supposed to be a clone of the lead (maybe the crunch?) channel of the KSR Ceres preamp. So the Mode switch on that is different gain flavours from KSR amps

Personally, I use my marshall head for clean tones and use my distortion preamp in the loop, gonna get an ABY pedal to switch between the two, fuzz and OD work better in front, distortion works better in the loop by itself imo

I have the Oxford Sound, an orange voiced preamp pedal from Joyo, and I love it. I boost it with the Argos Drive, which is Joyo's take on a Precision Drive clone. It legit doesn't need anything else, though admittedly a tube power amp or a tube power emulation pedal or IR with power tube saturation does help, especially if it's EL34 flavored, though I've also tried 6L6 and it still doesn't disappoint. This Rigel unit seems to do more of the same, in terms of quality and not needing much, but with more sculpting options. I run a stereo rig, and the other amp tone I go for is usually chainsaw, so I wonder how well this would take a stacked turbo rat and eyemaster combo? 😈

off topic question, but have you (or anyone else who may read this) tried a bogner 212 oversized cab? After checking youtube it sounds like the most 412 sounding 212, in a direct comparison to other 212s. But checking some forums it seems people feel like it's a bit to loose and woody/wooly for tight metal sounds. Agreed or think it works great for tight/modern metal/hardcore stuffs?
