As a shen player, i can say that shen wasn't kiting very well early on, nor were they really placing their spirit blade very well The closer it is to shen, the faster the shield will activate on him, letting him trade more safely Personally, if i fell behind like they did, i would try and catch up with macro plays rather than trying to square up with a cho'gath thats ahead

I think you getting Heartsteel way before Shen has more to do with the fact that you have 135 CS to his 45 than with getting free boots and no Doran's.
