Why is Ben's voice always so comforting no matter what he's singing? He sounds like himself--like his speaking voice--when he sings. I swear to you, between Shadow and Bone, interviews and his music this man has single-handedly brought me through the second half of the pandemic and I don't know WHY. (In addition to his new Songs for You, the soundtracks for Killing Bono, the Jackie and Ryan soundtrack, and even the early Hyrise song are also really good, even if they aren't the style he prefers.)

I guess most people here don't know about his brief stint as a boyband member called Hyrise in Eurovision before he got into acting. His voice was great even back then.

Ben was already into acting & singing in stage musicals before his 2-week stint filling in for another person in Hyrise. Ben was a member of the National Youth Musical Theatre (in the UK) for around six years. Starting at 15, he played drums in a West End production of "Bugsy Malone" with this organization. Then he transitioned into singing parts. Check out "The Dreaming" (a re-imagining of "A Midsummer Night's Dream") on KZbin. And these are just a few examples of his musical projects before he was cast in "Prince Caspian." The acting took over his career, but he did a lot of singing on soundtracks. Several of Ben's movies involved his characters being singers, too. I'm so happy for him to finally put out his *own* music. His 2021 EP "Songs for You" is on Spotify & other music streaming services!

OH! I love Ben Barnes' expression during this song. I think that was one of Donnie Hathaway's secrets, he sang with his whole face, and you can hear the emotion so clearly. It's not easy to impart such joy into a slow, quiet, song, but Ben really brought it.

Such an unusual version of this joyous Christmas classic! I have to commend you, it is absolutely wonderful. I have to mention the lead guitar riffs in the choruses, and the way the piano shines with beautiful complexity in that last chorus.
