EXACTLY!... I've been watching the KZbinr Andraz Egart recently, and I love his mountaineering content. He does some climbing and rappelling more to hiking(or slightly dangerous walking) -it’s actually also the breathtaking nature views, the cozy bivouacs after a long day, and even the little things like cooking pancakes outdoors that make it so enjoyable to watch. I’ve been searching for a game that captures all of this, and the closest I’ve found is Cairn. I know there’s Climber: Sky is the Limit, but it feels more like the Far Cry of climbing with all the red/yellow markers telling you exactly where to put your hands-it just doesn’t capture the same experience.

@@oryylo there is a similar game called jusant, just played the demo thanks to this, I think this pain I feel is from fear of heights, seeing someone in that situation triggers this on me but it's still amazing.

I had a pure climbing game like this for the Commodore64. Going for the big climbs was very difficult and watching my avatar fall for a disturbingly long time before 'ending' that climb was no fun. I never showed it to my parents as my brother did pass away after a fall from some W. VA cliffs while climbing/rappelling. I find I do have some fascination with the subject which could be due to exposure as a young child to the Disney classic - Third Man on the Mountain (Matterhorn). Looking it up I believe the game was called Final Assault.

Very similar to the Climbing Game "New Heights", however that one seems more focused on physics in regards to pushing, pulling, and utilizing your weight, so your placements really matters to maintain grip.

Yeah,I can only imagine the stamina that you need to have for something like this.When I went indoor rock climbing,my fingers got tired pretty quickly after one hour of climbing.

At least the gameplay was actually unique, new, and interesting. White Knuckle, Jusant, and Cairn are the 3 best climbing games out there right now-although the former 2 have much better stories/settings.
