Looks very nice!! Great kit, I'm doing one in red oxide primer, sort of basic old school hot rod look. I believe the 37 Ford coupe can be kit-bashed with this kit. Scale Auto Magazine did an article about the procedures. Build on!!

Nice update Bryan. I have one of those Kits that got waylaid! Having problems with the paint. Waiting for Scratch Paints to get back to me as to what I can use as a thinner. Acetone does a great job, the paint goes on a primered spoon ok, but I’m worried about putting it on the model. Any experience with that? Thanks for sharing. Happy days and model on! 😎🇨🇦

Peter Merz use of Correct Thinner is Key. Use Lacquer Thinner With Lacquer paints Enamel Thinner with Enamel paints Also use Same Based primer as the paint you're going to use

Good grief, DO NOT use acetone as the paint thinner on the model plastic! That would soften, and distort the plastic. A few times, when I was a kid. I used acetone as the cement to join parts. Worked ok for that, it softens the plastic, and you could see where the pliability had effectively made it like one solid piece.

You can use Lacquer thinner with Lacquers AND Enamels as the self leveling properties of that really help enamels shine like glass. The Mr. Hobby stuff is good too but more costly. Starting out painting I would say go with a 1:1 ratio, although a few old pro's like 1.5 or 2 parts paint to 1part thinner. The trick to Enamel is to not listen to the wait 10 minutes folks between coats, do even light coats set it down do the next part then come back (Regular Lacquer thinners self leveling abilities is Enamels dream partner). Donn Yost has videos showing his method and believe from experience his method not only works but really shows the fear of enamels comes from lack of knowledge not the brand name. Also a good wet sand starting with 3200 grit and working up to 12000 will give the paint that smoothness that when cleared afterwards brings back that shine and looks like a mirror. Micro Mark makes a really good wet sand finishing cloth kit, it's around 35 bux but they last forever if cared for and the end results really steps up your game. The kit has a polishing compund and cloths from 3200 to 12000 grit and it only takes a few minutes to go through them to remove spatter and any orange peeling you may get if any at all. P.S The trick is wet sand everything before priming to 12000, the smoother the surface the better contrary to the people who say otherwise, the paint needs rough to bite is nonsense and is the thermal paste argument of the hobby paint world. Wet sanding again after priming to 1200 with leave a silky smooth surface that when Lacquer or enamel is used gives you a beautiful shine with little wavy-ness (If you sanded well enough it can be hard on small models). All I can is until my channel goes up check out Donn's videos on you tube and the ones he sells if you can. The proof is in the pudding. Good luck!
