This man is a genius. I was always confused as to why he would choose to only wear the same outfit everyday. But now it’s finally clicked. He does it so he can use old footage and just blend it seamlessly into new videos 😀 great work my friend.

I'm totally with you. Everyone said it's a bad idea to delete social media when I'm in my freshman year of college because I need to make friends and social media is the only convenient way. I deleted Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit in January and my friendships have only gotten better, plus I have still been able to meet new people (and I am an introvert). It turns out that liking and commenting on people's posts isn't really socializing. Sending someone a text or calling them is an infinitely better way to connect.

Hey Matt, my name is Elias, I am a 17 years old student and discovered your Social Media Detox video last year. I could really feel how social media made my daily life more stressful. So I decided to do a social media detox for a few weeks in 2020. Now five months have passed and I still havent decided to install Instagram, Twitter or Facebook. My life literally changed a bit because of a single video on your channel. And that was only one video. Just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart. It might sound strange but I think this is the smallest amount of recognition I can give you. Thanks and keep going💪

@@mrsudheer2777 Hey, yeah that might make someone feel anxious. To be honest: At the beginning, I thought that it won't bother me at all. I could talk to them in reallife or call them. It does not have to be via social media. Now I'm in a little crisis: I'm selfisolating myself more and more, unwillingly. People don't ask me if we go out or chill. Instead they are asking other people, but we still call it "friendship". This has not necessarily to do sth. with the detox. I think my outcome is way more dramatic than in other peoples cases. Do a detox! I still havent installed the apps! Or if you dont want to do it, please reduce your screen time. It will help you alot, I promise,

Like do i have control over this? Will it help me reach my goals/values. I mean im interested in so much. But if you are at the library picking a book. When you look at a book its an obvious time investment. You tube and tv seem harmless but aren't. They are time sinks. If you think of any questions post it! Im curious of other peoples. @maxendrer.8457 4 жыл бұрын
@@amara560 If it's the case that this person wants to be less on their phone, then this is a great way to reduce screentime no? Your phone is designed to be addictive. If you have other substitutes that you're interested in as well, then it's easier to draw a line and put that phone aside. Also, the blue light of your phone isn't healthy, it prevents you from making the sleep hormone which causes you to sleep bad for example. So, in a way, I do think that books or magazines are better than your phone but it might not just be for everyone and that's okay.

My personal experience: -Facebook: Deleting the app from my phone has significantly helped with stress that increased due to this pandemic. -Instagram: Since I use it a lot for photography and music, I just put it on the second page within a folder 📂 (and on the second page on my home screen). I don’t even think about Insta whenever I have to use my phone for something else more important. -Notifications: I turned most of them off, leaving only DMs (might be important info). But keeping on Night Shift helps to silence them even more.

Red Venture omg I do this same thing! Putting something on the second page strategically like that makes a huge difference. It’s just so much effort every time you get the urge to check social media and have to swipe all the way over and then click into an individualized folder, and so as a result, you end up not even bothering to check as much

Hey I really want to try myself to quit Instagram for 30 days. I often realize that I spent so much time for it that I could use for much helpful things I would like to improve or even learn. The only thing that bothers me about it is that I really love music and to not be able to see when one of my favourite artist drops a new song bothers me a lot. Other thing is that I want to use KZbin for watching tutorials to learn some new stuff I wanted to teach myself for ages but I am kinda scared of using it too much. Any helpful tips which? Or just feel free to share your thoughts about same as I did ^^

Jakob Hey I just dealt with the same issue as you do rn about not feeling „up to date“ when it comes to your favorite singer or artist. I just subscribed to them on youtube and whenever they drop a new song I get a notfication so I just check it out. Also, I think there are way more important thinks than getting new musics from your fav artist. Use that time to focus on yourself instead and you will feel better than ever before! Those new songs wont run away from you they are still there and you are able to listen to them whenever you want they wont disappear lol. It's time for you to start taking the necessary steps to become that version of yourself that you can't stop dreaming about. You have a decision to make - day one or one day. Thank me later 🍀

I think everyone at some point should try a small (or big) social media break. At the beginning of last year I began slowly peeling myself away from them. Checking Twitter, Facebook, IG, and Snapchat less. And then removing them off my phone. And what began a small break turned into me going off social media (almost entirely.) Around March last year I deleted my Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. And I no longer use those platforms. Only FB Messenger to text my friends, and Snapchat (to snap my friends - but I only have 20 friends on there). It's been freeing! The struggle was real at the beginning but I noticed my mental health suffering from using social media. Your mileage may vary, but I gained so much from quitting. Now I just struggle with KZbin and Reddit haha but I'm slowly working on those too. Little by little :) Cheers! (edit: for typos)

I actually did it, for two years straight. As a Catholic, I chose the Lent period as a time for "social media fasting", so I didn't use social media for at least forty days. It really gave me perspective, clarity, and overall a sense of pushing myself away from things that are not useful at the end of the day; a major drawback for me was my need for another distraction, so I found myself spending hours on KZbin instead of scrolling Facebook or Instagram. I will try again next year, as having a specific time like Lent for trying it out helps me a lot, but this time I will also quit KZbin and other video platforms to see if I can really survive the lack of distraction and be able to focus on myself and on things that really matter!

I’ve been off of all social media platforms except for KZbin (If YT counts) for around 4 months. It’s been so clarifying to detox from the constant comparing oneself to others and stimulus/information overload.

I'm super inspired by this. I have started using social media apps on weekends only which is a good practice before you start the actual 30 days challenge. Awesome video.🙏🙏🙏

I deleted my Instagram account 15 months ago and honestly I haven't missed it since then. Before that I was pretty hooked on it, but it felt like keeping up with my own standard of posting was draining my energy and at times I realized how far off the real world social media can be. Ever since then I am enjoying real life connections with people much more. In fact I have naturally decided to speak up much more often instead of just looking at my phone and this made me more open to meeting new people. I have also become more creative and at peace with myself. I would definitely recommend stepping back from these platforms, because it can change your life and perspective on things a lot.

I just pulled out my phone from the drawer after 1 week of phone detox, and this is the 1st video that pops up on my feed.

Great video! I did it for just 24 hours but it felt amazing as well. I didn't even touch my phone that day. Thanks for sharing!

I quit social media . For like 20 days . I'm already a week in as of today . And two things I've learnt . We don't tend to appreciate very small things . We rest , we eat , we view a sunset , but we dont enjoy it . Instead , we'll keep scrolling just eating for the sake of eating and not even recognizing the taste , not appericiating what we have , taking everything for granted , just comparing . These things taking me so much . And deffinitely been more aware about my surroundings, more productive, less negativity . Everything is better . I'm using KZbin because my online lectures are posted here . 💜💜🌻

Great video. I quit social media - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest - about 3 years ago and haven’t looked back. I just check in on KZbin for some entertainment now and again, and find the content much richer/more educational here than switching on the TV. I also rarely watch TV these days - just the occasional BBC/other quality drama series now and again and don’t miss that either. I also quit reading news websites around the same time. I’ve found I haven’t missed out on anything other than procrastination and anxiety - so no great loss! I realised, particularly when I quit Facebook, how non-existent/shallow my real life relationships were, and it’s way more enriching working on that in real life than being online. I wouldn’t go back.
I'm on my own again.
