I deleted Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit in January and my friendships have only gotten better, plus I have still been able to meet new people (and I am an introvert). It turns out that liking and commenting on people's posts isn't really socializing. Sending someone a text or calling them is an infinitely better way to connect.

Instead they are asking other people, but we still call it "friendship". This has not necessarily to do sth. with the detox. I think my outcome is way more dramatic than in other peoples cases. @@maxendrer.8457 What would make magazines better than videos?
@maxendrer.84574 жыл бұрын
@@amara560 If it's the case that this person wants to be less on their phone, then this is a great way to reduce screentime no? Your phone is designed to be addictive. If you have other substitutes that you're interested in as well, then it's easier to draw a line and put that phone aside. Also, the blue light of your phone isn't healthy, it prevents you from making the sleep hormone which causes you to sleep bad for example. So, in a way, I do think that books or magazines are better than your phone but it might not just be for everyone and that's okay.

@@Randy_589 not deleting your account, but just getting rid of the feed, and of the "addictive" element: no app on my phone, I access FB only on my browser, News Feed Eradicator installed. Messenger app installed on my phone. I realized I basically needed FB just for Events, Messaging, (and Groups every now and then). No one cares if you are on that, I realized, and there's no need of drama, acting like "I'M ERASING MY PRESENCE ON THE INTERNET!": no one cares dude. Just take the benefits from the platform and screw the rest.

From my own experience I can say that the best thing I ever did was deactivating my instagram account 2 months ago. Because I got things to do like learning for my final exams Instagram always distracted me from learning for school. Hey! A tip that helped me a lot was starting the day without checking up social media because this is how I started my day usally.I just had breakfast went out on a walk and then go to my garden and study outside. The quote that motivated me and had a huge impact on me was „do something your future self will thank you for“. I would recommend you to delete those apps from your phone completely. I also realized that its quite a waste of time being on your phone doing nothing. Hope I could help you a little 💜

Hey I really want to try myself to quit Instagram for 30 days. I often realize that I spent so much time for it that I could use for much helpful things I would like to improve or even learn. The only thing that bothers me about it is that I really love music and to not be able to see when one of my favourite artist drops a new song bothers me a lot. Other thing is that I want to use KZbin for watching tutorials to learn some new stuff I wanted to teach myself for ages but I am kinda scared of using it too much. Any helpful tips which? Or just feel free to share your thoughts about same as I did ^^
@okeeyletsgo4 жыл бұрын
Jakob Hey I just dealt with the same issue as you do rn about not feeling „up to date“ when it comes to your favorite singer or artist. I just subscribed to them on youtube and whenever they drop a new song I get a notfication so I just check it out. Also, I think there are way more important thinks than getting new musics from your fav artist. Use that time to focus on yourself instead and you will feel better than ever before! Those new songs wont run away from you they are still there and you are able to listen to them whenever you want they wont disappear lol. It's time for you to start taking the necessary steps to become that version of yourself that you can't stop dreaming about. You have a decision to make - day one or one day. Thank me later 🍀

I've done way back in College, when I ended up with mild depression just when looking at facebook, instagram, twitter, etc. I always find myself comparing to others, and saying "wow, that's super great that he/she graduated and found an amazing job!" or "wow, they are super rich, and I'm poor!" That kept me from focusing on myself and being selfless. Please do this, and this will help you get through whatever the obstacle your life is currently at. Thank you for the video!

I think everyone at some point should try a small (or big) social media break. At the beginning of last year I began slowly peeling myself away from them. Checking Twitter, Facebook, IG, and Snapchat less. And then removing them off my phone. And what began a small break turned into me going off social media (almost entirely.) Around March last year I deleted my Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. And I no longer use those platforms. Only FB Messenger to text my friends, and Snapchat (to snap my friends - but I only have 20 friends on there). It's been freeing! The struggle was real at the beginning but I noticed my mental health suffering from using social media. Your mileage may vary, but I gained so much from quitting. Now I just struggle with KZbin and Reddit haha but I'm slowly working on those too. Little by little :) Cheers! (edit: for typos)

I reinstallI it for the sake of messenger, but I deleted the FB App. I meditate more everyday and have therapy to talk to myself only the positive things. I stop comparing myself to others. I actually did it, for two years straight. As a Catholic, I chose the Lent period as a time for "social media fasting", so I didn't use social media for at least forty days. It really gave me perspective, clarity, and overall a sense of pushing myself away from things that are not useful at the end of the day; a major drawback for me was my need for another distraction, so I found myself spending hours on KZbin instead of scrolling Facebook or Instagram. I will try again next year, as having a specific time like Lent for trying it out helps me a lot, but this time I will also quit KZbin and other video platforms to see if I can really survive the lack of distraction and be able to focus on myself and on things that really matter!

These things taking me so much . And deffinitely been more aware about my surroundings, more productive, less negativity . Everything is better . Great video. I quit social media - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest - about 3 years ago and haven’t looked back. I just check in on KZbin for some entertainment now and again, and find the content much richer/more educational here than switching on the TV. I also rarely watch TV these days - just the occasional BBC/other quality drama series now and again and don’t miss that either. I also quit reading news websites around the same time. I’ve found I haven’t missed out on anything other than procrastination and anxiety - so no great loss! I realised, particularly when I quit Facebook, how non-existent/shallow my real life relationships were, and it’s way more enriching working on that in real life than being online. I wouldn’t go back.
