Klay made the right choice he fits 4x better with Mavs than with the Lakers. Klay will definitely make Doncic better and more effective, Doncic can yoyo the ball draw defenders in doing his thing and flip it to Klay for a late in the clock shot attempt. Its the same with Kyrie if Doncic was resting or injured. Also Klay had more time to heal up and adjust to his post injuries body without getting another major injury last year. I do think Klay in a fresh start has more in the tank even defensively. He has size, strength and experience so even a step slower with a good attitude he can be a good defender on 2's or 3's while being able to help out on 4's and 1's. Yes he can't guard the quicks like Curry, SGA or Maxie but actually nobody can either. So Klay can be effective even with both Luka and Kyrie on the court playing small forward or with either one of them playing when one is on the bench. With the Lakers guards, Klay would be their best guard which is really not his thing he's used to being a more complementary piece and more like a guard/forward spot up shooter. Laker guards are just mediocre to good, Reaves is a good smart player but he has physical limitations in quickness and strength he will never be a true all star. He might squeak on to an all star team if Lebron is retired and he has a great year but he will never be considered as a perennial all star or franchise type player.

The team doesn't have assets nor money to make any meaningful trades nor can they get high priced free agents, so it's common sense for Lebron to do this contract. Whether you like Lebron or not it has nothing to do with it. People just start making childish assumptions and comments based on personal feelings. Use basketball business sense.
