Thanks great exercise, simple but effective! Vinnie Paul had superb double bass grooves, it wasn't his most famous groove but Shedding Skin was a great example of subtle double bass playing. The Grudge by Tool of course, too many to mention!

No doubt about it! The work of Vinnie Paul and Danny Carey is some of the most iconic in the repertoire of double kick playing. The conversation could go on forever and it _has_ to include these two. Thank you for commenting btw

Tomas Haake is an absolute monster at double kick! My favorite pattern he plays (and I can't think of what song it's in right now) is the hertas on the feet for an eternity through the piece. It reminds me so much of being in drum line, and those are some good memories!

You could easily put on Gojira's Mario Duplantier on the same spot. Check out, if you're haven't yet, their song "Exoteric Surgery" from The Way of All Flesh (2008). Straight Sixteenth note for more than 35 seconds and then his starts a groove using the Herta on double bass! It's killer!

Swivel technique

It is frustrating at times to sit down and practice something this slow knowing that I can go faster with one foot using the Swivel, but I guess that's practice. We practice something with both feet super slow so that when we go hard with double bass it's that much more consistent.
