How's 1399 vs 1599 an Apple Killer? for $200 you get first party support and seamless integration with MacOS Not everyone need Matte display but I do agree that the height adjustable stand is a enticing offer. I'll have to see how well this Samsung monitor integrates with the MacOS. You want a monitor that instantly turns on and no hassle.

Like I said in the video, it's retailing in South Korea currently for $1300 USD, but it's very likely that price will be instantly discounted on resellers such as Best Buy once the monitor is released in the US. I think you'll be able to pick one of these up for around $1100-$1200 not too long after launch. And don't forget (again, I mentioned this in the video), to get the matte screen and height adjustable stand on the Studio Display, you have to pay an extra $700 making the total price $2299.

Saw a review by Joe Peeravas. The Studio Display still edges ahead with built quality, better speakers and better camera. But if 5K is what you need and don't mind the matte screen with slightly less dramatic colours, this is definitely a MUCH cheaper option cos it's height adjustable too.

As I see it, ASD27 is the monitor for pro Mac users or rich non-pro Mac users. The "problem" with Samsung 5K 27 is that it's not 100% stable. I know it was the same thing about LG's 5K 27. I talk about stability on the table. ASD27 is VERY stable. If that's very important then ASD27 is the only option. The ports on Samsung 27 5K are much harder to access compared to ASD27. There are a couple of true wins for ASD27. I would love to see more comparisons! Don't forget that Dell sold a 5K 27 monitor before LG release their own. Dell was first (?) with a 5K 27 but required two monitor cables. LG, Apple and Samsung require only one cable, and of course you need a computer that support 5K (5120 x 2880). I like that Apple is treating their displays this good with the perfect resolution for each size. So for example that 2560 x 1440 on 27 inch before and they waited for that 5120 x 2880 on 27 inch to release anything better than 2560 x 1440. This is why I don't wanna buy a 28" 4K display. It's a "bad" resolution! So for example there's 27 inch monitors with both 1920x1080 and 2560x1440. I've tried 1920x1080 and that's too low so everything on the monitor will look too big. 1920x1080 is perfect on 24 inch but bad on 27 inch. This is why I hope for an affordable 5K 27 monitor. Still a pretty new product category. With more competion and higher volume in the future there will be more afforable options. What I'm curious about is if Samsung's 4K webcam will work with Mac and the apps on Mac. Not sure if I gonna buy this Samsung 5K 27. It's still a lot of money if the price is 1000-1300 dollar. I feel that I can spend up to 300-400 dollar on a monitor. So either a great 24" 4K or maybe a 27" 2,5K (2560x1440). Would love to see some discussion about 2560x1440 vs 5120x2880 on 27 inch. I know that Dell almost always got affordable monitors. So Dell is also an option but for now I believe that if you're into buying a 2,5K 27 and not "that graphics PRO user" then Dell is probably a very good choice. I haven't looked at Dell's current monitors and prices but I simply assume that they sell some really good and affordable monitors. For 5K 27 there's honestly only 2 options now: Apple and Samsung! Samsung over LG in this round! Looking forward to many more videos about 5K 27!

I don't think it's possible to tell the difference between 98% of DCI P3 and 99%. That's just silly. And just because Samsung has a phone app to recalibrate the monitor doesn't mean that the app does a good job. Otherwise why would it cost so much money to buy a separate hardware colorimeter or spectrophotometer? The Samsung monitor certainly has worthy features but these two are not among them!

The policy of Apple is not at all commendable because what can we do with just 60 Hz? In fact, the proper Apple Display Studio should have long been equipped with Super Motion and 120 Hz or more - according to the Macbook Pro M1, it is capable of up to 144 Hz. That would be a start!

99% of DCI-P3 is more gamut than 98%, doesn't mean it's more precise colors. Different things. Need to be compared by the correct standards. Also, DCI-P3, just like any other color parameter is just a "template" for colors... It can be a wider range inside the color spectrum INSIDE that standard, but it may be less in others such as sRGB or Adobe RGB.

Haven't found it cheaper than € 1249 here in Europe. Would only be considerable if it would be around € 800 - 900. At the current price the difference is not big enough to get the real deal. Will you pendants please get over the size of bezels on the display, or any other device. Normals watch what is on the screen. We are not watching the bezels. So why are pendants watching bezels instead of what is on the screen? It's like you can't find anything else wrong so you have to complain about the bezel size.

One question: What has the price tag to do with quality or being better (and the official price tag of the S9 is the same 1599 US$, as for the Studio Display)? And second: What amount of money is it worth to have a monitor made of aluminium and glas, instead of cheap plastic all around? And third: How much would you pay for astounding good sounding speakers? Your point of view is so focused on the price, that you oversee all the advantages of the studio display, including the better picture quality, coming from much better anti reflection coating and more brightness. The color calibration ex works of the Studio Display is much better, than the Samsung, which just isn't calibrated. And to do it by your self with a Smartphone, is just a toy for kids. The promised color accuracy of 99% for the S9 is just a joke, not real and is not better. I've testet both, side by side but would never suggest to by the just a little bit cheaper Samsung S9. The menu and settings are terrible, compared to the just easy setting for a Studio Display. Instead of that, I bought a second Studio Display in case of my conviction in it. And finally, a Studio Display is much more pleasing on your desk and if you ever want to sell it, you'll get much more money back. No, the S9 is not the better monitor, just a bit cheaper but with all its flaws (bad looking with all in plastic, the wobbling stand is made of pressed steal with a plastic cover, the choppy hide adjustment is just not needed, if you are not over 7 feet tall, the camera is separately to put on top, made of plastic too, the speakers sounds terrible without any bass, the display itself is less bright and has much more reflections, the menu is terrible to reach and adjust, the connection to a Mac is really slow reacting, the TV stuff is useless on a monitor and makes it much more complicated to deal with and the monitors display is not calibrated ex works). A bad deal in my opinion. You'll get, what you pay for. This simple phrase is always true. PS: By the way, Apples Nanotexture is not the same, as other companies do with there just matt plastic cover on there screens. It is instead a process of corroding the glass itself by using acid. A very complex and expansive process.

I'm a video technician, and I'd like to add this. For the 12K camera that Apple has on its studio monitor, in order to have this follow-me function without the actual cameras moving, some of the 12K pixels around the center have to be sacrificed. This is the main function of the A12/13 CPU in the Apple monitors. The actual pixel count in use has not been revealed, but electronics will reduce that 12K to an average of around 8K. This is similar action to a reflex camera sacrificing many surrounding SENSOR pixels for Electronic anti-shake (but unlike the latest Sony reflex or shutterless cameras with "motorized lenses" that do the same MECHANICAL anti-shake).

LMFAO, it cracks me up every time... they want to compete with Apple YET 85% of the time they came up with a mockery of apple design investing a tenth of the design research apple put into its product and then they claim thir product are cheaper... ofcourse they are, they skipped a couple of the most expensive steps in development of any given product... and Samsung don't lack the capabilities to be even better than Apple... it is also very sad that reviewer always fail to mentrion that. DISCLAIMER: I own an iPhone but everything else is not apple but I try to rewards companies that use ingenuity while developing products

Godawful speakers. Flimsy plastic build quality. I was able to pick up a slightly used Apple Studio Display for $1100 over this S9.

Umm, if the Studio Display is only about $200 more, why wouldn't I buy the higher quality Apple display? Samsung makes cheap, flimsy junk.

Late to the party on this one - but wanted to chime in on build quality. I have two 27” Apple Thunderbolt Displays which I’m still using as my daily drivers - connected to an M2 Max Mac Studio. I have used these every day since 2015 and am unlikely to change these up for the foreseeable future. I edit video, retouch photography and colour grade in addition to more regular office productivity tasks. The build quality is what keeps these in play in my setup. Your comment about changing out every 3-4 years isn’t reflected by my experience, and I suspect it’s part of what underpins the high price point Apple are able to achieve with their displays - they know they last the test of time. When I do come to buy new monitors, it’ll be Apple.

12 megapixels is more than 4k... 4k is 8.3 megapixels. The video makes it sound like the camera is better because it's 4k, which doesn't actually measure performance.

yeah I would love a studio display but not at those price points. Just spent a tone of money on my laptop. I hope this samsung screen isn't super pricey and I'd consider it. Ugh $1300 I hope it gets discounted. I feel like if it's 1300 I'd rather just spend the extra $300, or get a used studio display.

While this Samsung monitor looks nice, Amazon reviews (with videos and pictures that validate the review) would indicate this monitor is a fail for the price that Samsung has placed on it. As stated in other comments, a few hundred more for Apple quality is probably worth it. If you can afford the Samsung price tag, chances are high that a few hundred more for Apple is not going to be a deal breaker

Why product X should either be the killer of product Y or a victim of product Z? Why all youTuber tech reviewers have that same finite view of the tech industry and want everyone to think the same way?

It’s kind of funny how the monitor sounds like it’s breaking as it obnoxiously clicks into place and thank GOD it’s an IPS panel. The previous versions were all VA panels for this style.

Every time I see a description on a video that claims something is a killer like for example, the Mac killer or the Chevy killer were so on when I see this, I immediately dismissed the video as BS

correction - with the matt finish + adjustable stand = it should be up to $900 less compared to the Apple studio display.

these are priced the same as Studio Displays, so Samsun lost here as the build quality and materials are worse than these from Apple
