I did this on my 3.7 L. No change in oil use. The issue is low friction oil rings on the 3.7s. Over time the oil rings get carbon’d up and they start sticking. Microscopic amounts of oil slip past all the rings and burns. That’s why they never smoke. Here’s what helped me. Every time I get within 600 mi. to an oil change I dump in half a bottle of marvel mystery oil. It has helped unstick the rings a little. I was burning .45 quarts every 1000 miles, now it’s a 1 quart ~ every 3000.

I recommend putting engine honey in there after your oil change
@AcuraPerformance3 жыл бұрын
I had that issue before and brought it too the dealer for the recall. After a few tests they concluded that it was just a low amount of oil burning and it did not qualify. I did my research and then asked the dealer to replace the PCV valve and it worked! One thing I always do now is always add Lucas oil treatment every oil change. I only use Shell premium all the time because it doesn't have ethanol. It's always a clean burn.

@@finoreviews_j3752 I got a 2010 Acura tl sh-awd with 90k miles and so far it's not burning anything. I've driven 2k miles on this business trip and it burned a bit, but it's like 105 degrees out here and I have to go uphill all the time. When driving here tho I didn't burn much. Does that sound normal, or should I start preparing for the worst? Tips for a new TL driver?
@finoreviews_j37522 жыл бұрын
@@jacobsosa2785 alright so I’d monitor it for now. Daily check your oil. If you find yourself maybe burning a quart every 2k then you have an issue. If not then you should be good. Just monitor it for now. That’s what I was doing for a while since I noticed it. You’ll also notice that she will run a bit rougher. Just monitor your oil other then that these cars are great. Unfortunately for me my motor detonated so I’m actually waiting for Acura to put a motor in there I’m hoping I don’t have the same issue with a newer motor. Monitor everything once again and stay on top of your maintenance my friend best advise I can give you. See her running low add oil in her

The burning oil on this csr is hughly overblown. Yes they burn oil, like most older cars but usually its an acceptable amount. My s2k burned oil, my tl burned oil, my accord burned oil....all were strong.

What’s going on bro? I literally just called Acura and they talking about $140 for a diagnostic test. My issue is my car burns oil and you smell it inside the car. I think ima change the PCV sensor you changed. You have any other advice towards the issue ?
@finoreviews_j37523 жыл бұрын
How much oil are you burning? And if your smelling it in the cabin it may be leaking onto your exhaust id Jack that car up before you even take it to the dealer or if you have any friends who may have a lift just lift it up and grab a good LED lights and try to pin point. Another thing you can do leave a cardboard box under your car after a drive and go back to it the next day… definitely cheaper alternative to the possibly fix is your PCV valve.
@kelbymartinez35153 жыл бұрын
@@finoreviews_j3752 yeah I actually never jacked up the car like that to see what’s really happening under it. It can be a leak from somewhere or its burning the oil itself. I haven’t really took the burning oil to the mile ratio as of yet. Actually might give it a oil change this weekend and before that leave it on and see if the oil drips on the floor
