I have always wondered how did we reach a time where ODI is the format fighting for existence. The day I started watching Cricket, ODI has been the truest form of cricket for me. Excitement with Resilience. The best of both worlds. I understand T20 became more profitting as well as exciting but that doesn't mean ODI should be removed. That's like leaving your parent coz they couldn't catch up with the ultra fast paced advancements. It is coz of them why you stand here. If every two years we have a new champion(T20,) are they really a champion? They always say that in T20 anybody can beat anyone but why are we idolizing a format where there is no place for resilience, temperament, hard work. All you need to do is to shine on that given day and then anyone can be become the champion. No matter if the same champion team loses the next 5 series consecutively. The legendary Aussie team that we keep talking about just couldn't have existed in this format. Why you say? Coz on a day, literally any team could have beaten them. Would they be the same Hayden, Gilchrist, Ponting if anyone could come and take their bails off coz they would be trying to hit every ball out of the park? NO.

The best option is just to get rid of t20i. There are enough leagues around the world to get the revenues for each board. ICC should set a structure of specific no. of tests and odi to be played between teams. That'll help free up the calendar. Best bet is 4 test and 3 odis in a series maybe

In ODI, you can see both t20 cricket and test cricket. When wicket falls early then the players try to build the innings and that is entertaining to watch and when last 10-12 overs came you can see t20 cricket.

Came across this video so wanted to convey my point of view /opinion .While bilateral series is getting monotonous which is the right word therefore icc or BCCI should make it more interesting with Trination or fournation series . Having said that it will really be heartbreaking to see odi cricket dying since I and everyone born in the 80s and 90s have grown up watching odi cricket . It is a beautiful format where we learn to adapt as a cricketer . A format other than test where a batsman can score a 100 and a bowler can take a 5 fer which is the true judgement of a cricketer which cannot be seen in t20 cricket often . ODI cricket MUST remain for cricket to flourish Thia is the format where we india has won the World Cup under Kapil Dev for the first time in 1983 and then again under ms Dhoni . This is what a cricketer dreams of . In fact I did growing up wanted to play for india wearing the blue jersey . Yes t20 cricket is there to stay ,like you rightly said the commercial angle is so strong that everyone makes money and so should it be but playing odi cricket prepares you slightly for test cricket as well unlike t20. One day cricket has its flows of the game which is beautiful. For commercials play the t20 , for pure cricketing reason ODI and TEST must flourish and continue. how the icc will try and make odi r more commercialised I don’t know but it should not die .

ODI is the best cricket format no doubt. It's love for us who are watching it before 2015. There won't be any good cricketers if there is no ODI. Players like Sachin, Ponting, Virat, Rohit, Starc, Sakib, Kallis etc. all become legends due to ODI and become the one of the greatest in their styles. If ODI dies then no players can't become like these and forget about 100 centuries no players could score 50+ century in future.

I think ICC should explore the idea suggested by the god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar about playing ODI in two inning format of 25 overs each. This will bring in a new dimension and excitement. Why not just remove WT20 and make CWC a 20 over tournament. My suggestion would'be to remove ODI & T20, give them single name and identity i.e. white ball cricket. IMO authorities should remove 50 over format and accumulate all white ball cricket stats together & make format simple. Earlier this step was taken when ODI was changed from 60 overs to 50 overs Those who don't watch cricket it's so hard for them to understand rules and formats of cricket. Cricket should be simple and entertaining. Note - Let Test cricket remain as it is.

League cricket is killing cricket. As a 90s kid, I loved cricket because I associated each cricket match with India. When Indian players are on the ground, I felt we Indians are playing/fighting against another country. We are supporting them as they were kind of soldiers, fighting for pride of our country. You will not have that feeling in any stupid league cricket matches.

BCCI and other cricket boards must cancel all the bilateral fixtures and should plan triangular and quadrangular tournament for ODI format. For eg. India-Sri Lanka-Bangladesh (triangular), India-England-Australia-New Zealand (Quadrangular), India-South Africa-England, India-Australia-New Zealand. Also, they can plan fixtures by including associate nations into the play like, India-Sri Lanka-Afghanisthan, India-South Africa-Zimbabwe, India-England-Ireland, Australasia Cup, Mini World Cup like 1985. These are some of the measures by which we can keep ODI cricket alive. Also, they should compromise some bilateral T20 series during 50 Over World Cup year for betterment of ODI. One important solution for this issue regarding all format cricket can be specialist players. i.e For example, If Suryakumar Yadav has high strike rate and average in T20 cricket, make him as T20 specialist for Indian Team, but don't make him playing longer formats and disturb his workload. All-format player system should be reduced from now in Indian Team by making rule that a Team playing any format should have at the most 3 all format players, other 8 players should be specialist players for that format. This will make a seperate ODI, Test and T20 squad for India and also for selecting specialist players in each format, consider domestic structure as the backbone for selection process, this can avoid mixing of formats and make an International Team much stronger in all the 3 formats.

Aakash sir ek suggestion hai test ki tarah ODIs ko 2 innings Karde toh like 25 overs per innings Aisi har teams ki 2 innings. After 25 overs of 1st team 10 min break and after 25 overs of 2nd team a lunch of 40 min. And 2nd innings team making lead and 4th innings team chasing that target. Although test cricket jitna interest nahi aayega lekin odi format ko log dekhna shuru Dheere Dheere karenge

Better to have a balance. Too much T 20 might look good for finances but ODI provides a great balance in patience/skill vs attack and quick play. The option of more Tri / Quadrangular series is good one.

No sports is good, when there are no audience. For odi you have to spare 8 9 hours. Only jobless people watch it . Outside Asia most of them have jobs from Monday to Friday and no one have time to spare 8 9 hours. After busy days they watch football at night,as it only last 2 hours and give good entertainment. For growth of cricket, they should promote t20 cricket.

Closing my eyes and remembering all those hundreds by Kohli and Rohit. Those hundreds by sachin . Peak time of Bhuvi and Bumrah. bowling Partnership between chahal and kuldeep. And Those quick stumpings by Dhoni. Still makes me happy....

Quadrangular must be promoted. Bilateral is very boring and less competitive. Every cricket team should play at least one quadrangular & one or more triangular series in a year. We want more competition for excitement.

ODI Cricket comes to its and I will never watch cricket because I believe the kind of competition the kind of cricket you see in ODI Cricket you can see a century being scored by a cricketer you can see 5 wicket haul by a bowler in India Pakistan match UC 8 and a half hours entertainment T20 cricket is just a fluke but one day cricket is a real cricket😢😢😢 in T20 cricket UC just two teams playing with each other playing for Win or lose but in one day cricket UC battle within battle like you want Babar Azam to score 100 but at the same time you believe Virat Kohli will score more than power Asam you want Jaspreet bumrah to take 4 wickets but at the same time you believe Shaheen Afridi will take 5 wickets but in T20 cricket that doesn't happen hardly a bowler take three or four wickets hardly a better score more than 60 or 70 T20 is just the game for top order batters but in one day cricket even a better coming at number 6 can score 100 I request please save one day cricket😢😢😢
