Noir/Diablo actually said that the mask finally broke, since he has been observing Shizue for the entire time. The reason his hand was destroyed was because the mask is not allowed to break and yet when Rimuru was fighting Shizue the mask broke. Meaning something or someone caused the mask to break aka Rimuru. That's why he is interested in Rimuru, since Noir is someone who knows a lot about the world and yet he doesn't know about the mask. That what attracted him to Rimuru who may be someone that can guide him to the truth of the world.

To bring back a point made at the end of the last episode. Rimuru summoned Noir/Black when summoning a demon to inhabit the new golem but, as Noir/Black put it, a member of his own family cut in front of him. So, he is determined to make sure the next demon Rimuru summons will be him. They really rushed that point with short exposition, so it’s easy to miss or forget.

You really really need to watch OVA 3,4,5 before season 2. OVA 1 and 2 are just filler and can be skipped. But the other 3 are cannon and really shouldn't be missed

I think you could watch Slime Diaries in between S1 and S2. Slime Diaries (if I'm not mistaken) timeline took place right after Orc Disaster Arc. You're going to have better experience doing so since they're showing stuffs that gives you a subtle hint/foreshadowing (basically not spoiler) of the events of S2, characters that they'll introduce earlier than in the main storyline, and good "slice of life" Stuffs . But that's just my suggestion.

Demons in this show are another race, like Human, Orc, true dragon. They are not dead. They just live in another realm thats adjacent to this world. If they do die, they come back ti life eventually, just like Veldora or Ramiris. They have their memories though. N they get stronger mentally. Learning from their defeats. They dont have physical bodies, they why they aren’t running around like the other races, so they are summoned to this realm usually.

I know its been a month but only now i watched this reaction. Its realy annoying that almost 80% of anime reaction channels messes and mix up the story (not just Slime but other animes too) but its ovious what is happening if you pay attention. This channel is in the better end but they still making unreasonable assumptions based on what they saw. Are they not paying attention or is the story really that hard to grasp? Sometimes this angers me a little bit.

There are 7 primordial demons or original demons and other demons are their descendents , other demons can't say names of upper rank demons casually otherwise they will die as that arcdemon because black is a primordial demon To understand primordial demons powers only true dragons are the only ones who can fight them on equal footing which means a creature like veldora is only capable.
