Sorry Taspens my opinion and probably others is completely opposite to yours. I use the chat and see others use the chat regularly in games now. Even more so in older versions of the game, where teamwork and objective play was rewarded with the only monetised currency, crystals. My favourite part of old Tanki was that community feeling, in games and/or lobby. And stopping people from communicating without paying is a huge slap in the face to fans who were looking forward to that community. On discord: 1. I won’t be micromanaging discord regardless but 2. How can you ask for someone’s discord if you can’t message them? 3. Even if there is a work around, no one will ask for enemy discord, eliminating shit-talk. Which is fking hilarious. After hearing this news I no longer have any interest in getting Tanki classic. I would rather them make a hundred changes before removing chat for non buyers. You might as well be playing against advanced difficulty bots with an ai generated gamer name.

I agree. I usually enjoy the chat, even though I use the mute button fairly often. I used to pop in and chat between games. There are plenty of times that I show up waiting for the 956s timeframe and end up hanging out and chatting. Charging for communication is wild. They already have it limited to certain ranks and I thought that was ridiculous because new players routinely ask about the mechanics of the game in there. I think this is a bad move personally.

Here's a wild idea... how about they just monetize the game through buying crystals and premium? limiting chat behind a paywall and trying to justify it is wild 💀 if what hazel's saying is true, they should have enough money coming in from regular tanki. How are you gonna chat on discord if u can’t ask for the persons discord through tanki chat? It’s also important in modes like xp bp and just to communicate with players in general, ya can’t have everyone’s discord. And it definitely isn’t necessary to hide it behind a paywall, who wants to have chat when most players don’t even have access to talk with you, just creates a bunch of unnecessary problems and most old players won’t like it

@@TaspensPeople using voice call for tanki is a very small amount of players. The majority of players just want to play casually and have the freedom to chat with others in game. It’s just all around a terrible idea. 1. Not fun for players buying it cause they won’t be able to chat with most other players 2. Definitely not fun for the rest of the community that wants to enjoy the core parts of old tanki. KZbinrs should try to push Hazel to never get this implemented into the game. Nobody wants it.

This means premium players will have way, way less people to chat with, they'll probably often be a single person who can chat in the whole battle. Basically, it's limiting paying customers too which is never a good idea. What should I pay for? For having limitations either way?

My son, husband, and I all play Tanki and are relatively excited for the new game but not at $20 per pass. $60/month for us to play as a family is obscene. That's a movie night, a dinner out, it's not worth a few hours of game play.

If you'e in Matchmaking, then nobody talks other than the occasional "Jugg low" or something. It feels like i'm playing by myself tbh even though i'm surrounded by people. Battle list has plenty of people who speak, but much less than old Tanki. Also there are very few battle list battles right now compared to the people playing MM.

Like sometimes you just wanna send a quick message to someone random in battle or talk with your teammates, but at the ond of the day they are just random people. You dont wanna connect with every single person you wanna talk to, on discord. About 2 dollars a month - it may not seem much for you but it's way more for Russia. Before 2014, a dollar used to be equal to around 35 rubles. Now 1 dollar costs 102 rubles, or 3 times more, so it's over 200 right now per month. Basically, it's kind of a lot of money a year for such a small game like Tanki. Thanks for the video!

sorry, im new to all this, im a 2010 player who just tried to play the new version and was just.... yeah, cant describe it, so i looked if a older version was available and ended up here, but the tanki classic website is static and doesnt launch so i assume its not done yet (or am i making a mistake), otherwise does someone know when it will be released?

I feel like premium pass should give you everything that gives you now, ALSO they should make challanges but make it last for months to get the skin, and premium would give you the pass to get the rewards from the challange. I also think that bringig all the skins from current tanki online would be great, so they could make more challanges, skins doeasn’t take away anything from the gamplay experience. Limiting the chat and creating pro battles will not work cuz i’m not gonna pay for something that is such a fudamental and free aspect of every game

I like if the premium things are expensive so less people will take advantage of it. If you invest money in this game, you will get more advantage. But if they are few people in the game then non payers will have no problems. This is how a game developer company can make money from this game. So I made some points.. 1) Full supplies (Boost Armour, Boost Damage, SpeedBoost) should applicable together for 1 minute like before (2012). 2) We old players don't like smart cool downs. 3) Supplies should not be given in the kitbox. 4) Every players should use supplies very less in the game battle except a huge money investor. 5) Supplies should be expansive as before as 2011/12.

Your talking about giving buyers a huge advantage in the game. This is exactly what lead to people leaving tanki in the first place. The game needs both buyers and non-buyers in order to have a large enough player base to make worth playing. We already had 'F2P-P2W'. It didn't work.

Tanki X (2016) was a f2p game. No one liked that game so much and it was closed. 2011/12 Tanki Online was a p2w game. At that time highest players were online everyday. Yes many players (including me) complained but also they loved to play that game also. Because of the game physics, game content, some powerful druggers, everything was so simple and lovable. Today people (Non buyers) talk about that beautiful time also. Note:- I never invested a single coin in that game. But played everyday 6 to 7 hours in 2012 to 2019

As others have expressed, how are you gonna get a messenger contact to a random person you've just met in the game? Doesn't text chat make way more sense? And like I said in another comment, by limiting free players like that they are in term limiting paying players as well, as they won't be able to receive messages from free players. I don't want to pay just to be limited like that.

Having access to chat will never be an incentive to buy a premium pass. I feel like most players will be from an older age group and many of these people won't want to be bothered with discord. I know I don't want to be in a voice chat with random people just to play a battle. In battle chat is a necessary basic game feature and should be free for everyone. Now lobby chat is totally different. If people want to pay for chat to be social fine but lobby chat doesn't effect game play. As for "clan" groups they will be more serious and use discord anyway, so chat is not an incentive for these players to pay for premium. We used to have a premium paint that provided a certain percentage of protection from every turret. This was never a huge game changer put that and increased battle fund where enough of an incentive to buy premium. We could have something like that in Classic.

I also hope they don't decide to make it a P2W game. Many people like me are casual spenders to help support the game. I am willing to support a F2P game that is fair for everyone but will not be bothered if it becomes a P2W game. Many people's pockets are not deep enough to support a P2W game style so the fun factor will suffer, well in less you like losing all the time. Maybe I'm different but I don't have an issue losing to a better skilled player but I can't stand losing to someone that just buys the win. I also hope they make non-supply battles the default and supply battles can be for premium players. Druggers love to spend money on supplies.

People are so selfish and don't understand that this is a free game that needs to make money somehow. If this premium pass thing is anything over 5$ then you may have a point but if it's 5$ or less then you can't all be crying about it cuz it's very cheap and it will help sustain the project. I'd much rather 1000 people contribute 5$ to the game for this than 10 people contribute 500$ and make every game they join miserable with their overpowered tanks. They need to make this premium pass worth buying without giving them an extreme competitive advantage and I think that this is one of the best ways a game like tanki will do it, listen closely, I never said this is a GOOD way but rather the BEST option they have. And don't even try talk about anything cosmetic because people aren't gonna pay for paints in 2025.

Here’s a different take, how about they make a product that people actually want to pay for vs resorting to blocking access to the most basic feature in online gaming (chat) behind a paywall in order to make money. It’s both lame for people to pay for and will completely kill the chat as most people won’t pay for it and can’t type. Games will turn into an NPC fest with 3 premium players chatting. Ultimately the people that profit from these projects aren’t the 9-5 devs that work their ass off. It’s the stake holders and owners of the business. This isn’t Grandma’s local cafe. This is like defending McDonald’s for increasing a Big Mac by $5.

Monetising reasonably will bring in new players. So back to my original point. Make the game better and make content people want to buy and they can make money. Do you think tanki has declined because the game is getting better and better? No. The game is 1000 times more shit now. The main, game defining, aspect of the game, is augments, which are blocked by RNG in containers or a paywall during certain events. Not skill. No amount of skill or grinding can get you the augment you want. Maybe Very very occasionally if you get a good event and get lucky with the prizes you want and can spend 1000hrs a day grinding. The fact that you cannot grind for the build you want without getting lucky or paying during an event shows they have 0 respect for players time. It sucks to grind and playing with bad gear is disgustingly shit. Try introducing Tanki in its current state to a friend that didn’t play before, they will tell you it’s dogshit I promise you. So yes in a way I agree with you. If they continue to make the game shit through bad decision making that show 0 respect for players or their time, then yes, I think forcing people to pay to chat is probably their only option. But the fact that they have resorted to monetising *communication* in a game that relies on a community of players. Shows a complete disconnection between the devs and the player experience. It’s so blatantly obvious they are treating players like cash cows and I would respect them 1000 times more (and want to support them with my money) if the game dies trying to be fun for players instead of the game living on and turning into this crap. And judging from the comments in this video I am in the majority.
