In and out of jail, 7 treatment facilities, kids taken from me and my wife, lost a 6 figure job, lost our beautiful dream home, literally lost everything, except life, that was next, but by Gods grace and Gods grace only, we made it through, we have our kids back, we have each other back, 2 1/2 years clean and sober off of the needle, if I can do it, TRUST ME, whoever is reading this can do it, reach out, surrender, let go and let God. Thanks for this song Tom, thanks for Shining light on it shaq, you have a platform to reach millions and you are🤘🏻🙏. We do recover.

Never had an addiction problem, but when I first heard this song it reminded me of a best friend that I lost contact with when I moved away from home. He got caught up in the drugs and destroyed his family. He thought he was at his lowest and put a gun in his mouth and ended it on his 35th birthday. I like the sentiment to never give up, I just wish I could have been there for him when he was at his lowest.

Some of the brightest stars come with the deepest scars. The determination to overcome, some are not able to do. For they never find the self love to believe. The key is seeing the things you can and cannot change and having the wisdom to know the difference. Take things one moment at a time and try not to let the cup overflow.

Bro, 8 yrs sober... There's nothing you can't handle now! Only been 8 months for me and detoxing was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. You got this. I have faith in you. I'll pray with you or be here for you if you need it. I haven't made videos since I detoxed but I only ever wanted to show people that there are still ones that care. If nobody else has told you yet today, I love you and I'm pulling for you.

People addicted to drugs shouldn't be aloud to own a dog period
@daltonevans3412
@daltonevans3412 4 жыл бұрын
@@stevenh1761 there are no absolutes. There are addicts who absolutely can and will look after their dog properly and there are some who shouldn't be allowed to have them for the dogs well being, but you can't say a blanket statement that no addicts at all should be able to own a dog. I have honestly known addicts who take better care of their dog than people with 6 figure level jobs or other "successful" people. there are no absolutes in this world and pretending there is is just a bad way to go through life.

This brought tears to my eyes. I’ve struggled with wanting to surrender for the last 15 years. The day’s that pass and I don’t feel this way I’m grateful for because nothing hurts more than feeling so low that you want to give up. I know this song is about addiction and tho I’ve never turned to drugs or alcohol to numb the pain I found myself addicted to the pain that depression brought, depression was in fact my drug of choice. As years passed I found myself less addicted and realized I just wanted to be happy. It’s hard to fight your Demons when you used to be down with your demons.
@menacethemenace2490
@menacethemenace2490 4 жыл бұрын
Bro you really said a mouthful just then. So much truth in that and it's the exact same for most addicts. I struggle with my demons every day. But you can choose to be happy, it's okay. For some reason, we tend to think that we are stuck with our past. You have outlived your past. It doesn't determine who you are now. You can't change your past but you can choose your future. Don't let the past define who you are. Start today living a life that makes you happy. If you need an ear, I'm here. You've got this! If nobody else has told you today, I love you. Keep your head up.

This is 🔥 I love Tom. I'm now sober 8 yrs. I was an addict from 14 to 36 yrs old. I'm now 44 yes old and proud of who I am. I see this as a wonderful message. I tell you I had to almost die twice to get sober but after my grandpa, my best friends, my mother, and delt drugs for multiple decades. I was lost. It wasn't until I had help and joined ADS I was found and sober finally. I had lost who I was. I think God for and myself for all the hard work I had to do. I wouldnt change anything.

We are nothing but Warriors on the battlefield of Life. The scars we carry tell our story of battle. Those battles are lessons written on the soul. I feel those lessons are meant to carry over to your next life. Some of us stumble in battle. But never give up. Always fight. It's not about how many times you fall. It's about how many times you get back up. We all have our battles. We should all find a way to support each other through it and not make it worse. And believe me when I say as a cashier in a gas station. I see how much of an impact small jesters can have on a person. Your battle that day might be unknowingly helping someone else win theirs.

I have never been addicted to any substances yet I feel like l can sympathize with peoples struggle with it. Listening to this song it finally hit me. Struggling from mental health, depression, bipolar, what have you... causes just as much destruction in your life sometimes. Looking back at some of my lowest times fighting that demon, the path of destruction is so visible now. I hurt a lot of people on the path of hurting myself fighting with my own mind. Mad respect to anyone who can be vulnerable, and put their struggles into words so that others can relate, and find solace.

I'm a recovering addict. My favorite thing about Tom is not only the message in his music but the fact that he's a recovering addict himself. I was clean once for a 5 year stretch but done no self work, relapsed and only by the grace of God made it back after using for 4 more years. I've been clean for 6 months this time and God willing I'll stay clean.

I'm a recovering addict and this song reminded me that I don't have to use no matter how hard life gets, keep moving forward because if you are standing in one place, you are going backwards you just haven't figured it out. If you relapse you haven't failed. Get back up and try again. No matter how many times you relapse. 6 years off drugs but I can fall just like that and I know that. God gave me a second chance and I don't intend to lose it!!!! Much love Shaq from Kentucky!!!!! ❣

This song really relates. I’m proud to say I’m a yr sober from on the Feb 8th.The emotion this brought to me is hard to comprehend. I had a great job and a family. I got a divorce and lost everything and kinda had a mental breakdown. I didn’t know what to do and found comfort in a substance. At first I felt amazing but then I kept losing everything and I eventually, after 8 months looked myself in the mirror and didn’t recognize myself. It was a hard road to sobriety but it’s so worth it. I’m so proud I never gave up and I’m one of the 6% of addicts of my drug of choice to get clean.

This song had me straight up ugly crying the first couple times I listened. I've never been addicted but my dad was for 13 years. Stuck by his side through it all, 2 prison stints multiple rehab attempts going to his house to visit and kicking crackheads out pissing him off. Everyone told me to give up but I couldn't he was my daddy. He finally got sober and I lost him 3 years later but I had the real him back for those 3 years. Recovery is hard but it is possible

He was using it (autotune) to make a point, "mainstream type" music (over use of autotune, catchy beat etc....) but with meaning, not just random bars talkin' about money, clothes, girls etc. Still, not everyone's cup of tea but sometimes knowing why something's done a certain way helps.

He’s healing his demons (meaning shadow self) but this is where those that understand, detachment is best. Objective point of view and just understanding along with compassion. Because that’s all anybody is doing, healing. His words vibrate healing back to him and those that need it.
