Good point. If you're already a customer, and have cards and accounts with them, why would Chase or any other bank have to do a "hard pull" on a card that the bank says your "pre approved" for? It's like Chase is pulling a "bait and switch."

Yeah, it’s not a good move by them. Thanks for watching, Gordon.

Good video. I have had pretty good luck with both Chase and American Express, although I have had more cards with Citi than anyone else. Recently, however, I had a negative experience with Discover that I wanted to share. I have a high credit rating, no late payments, etc. and have had a Discover card for many years. My credit limit with Discover was at least $20,000 last time I looked (I have never come anywhere close to that amount) and I had no balance on it at the time of this incident. They also periodically have offered me pre-approved Discover term loans in excess of $20,000 at a relatively low rate. Anyway, I saw online that Discover was offering new clients a card with 0% interest on purchases for a year or so. I love those kinds of cards but assumed, as a current Discover cardholder, that I was not qualified. Then I called Discover and was told that I could get a second card and use it for those 0% purchases. I was very happy with that news -- until Discover told me the credit limit on the new card was only $3,500. I called them up and asked for what I thought was a routine credit limit increase (another $3,000 would have been fine) and was declined (first time ever)!! I even told them they could lower my credit limit on my existing Discover card by an equivalent amount but that was not acceptable!! Even though I told them I was the same person they had years of experience with on the original card, I was informed that I had to prove my creditworthiness on the new card separately before I could get any credit limit increase on that card!! They treated me like a completely new customer whose prior credit history with them did not matter, nor did my high credit rating. So I am currently using that card in a very limited way for those 0% purchases, and will probably cancel the card after that period expires. Amazing!!!

Thanks for the video, I've been with chase for some time now. And they did the same to me. Some chicanery and Tom foolery ,

Hopefully, they make changes soon. Thanks for watching, Dave.

Chase user here and I agree with you. I do like AMEX better minus the fact they slide the point tax on to us.

I believe that it says you are approved to apply anytime you get a credit card approval it always says you are approved to apply. I want to see the shot of the approval
@WaterYourSoil14 күн бұрын
It usually say pre-approved. There’s a difference. The shot of the approval is in the video. Thanks for watching.

It is very disingenuous to tell someone “you’re approved” and then go ahead and pull from two bureaus. If am approved I don’t have to show you that I’m “worthy” of your card, you already saw I was. I wonder if any other banks word it the same, or is this just a Chase issue?
@WaterYourSoil16 күн бұрын
I agree. They need to change it. Thanks for watching, PG.

Because Chase really doesn't know much. Remember this is the same bank that allowed that enable a glitch with Checks. If there systems are this bad, then there is something really wrong on the back end.

From what I’ve been told, the approval is based on the information that they had at the time when the offer was extended which is not real-time. They do only soft-pulls monthly or quarterly. So at the time of application, they want to see if there are any unseen issues or changes to your report since they last checked it. Many CC companies do this. Amex has their own in-house assessment tool to determine risk, so they save money from doing hard-pulls on their customers. But in some instances they may do a hard-pull if they deem it necessary based on the magnitude of what you are applying for.
