This Damba BUFF Means More Than You Think! - Paladins Mal'Damba Gameplay

Ripened Gourd has been a bad talent for a very long time. While it provides good healing output on paper and is helpful for controller players, it has too many downsides to make it a competitive choice. One of the biggest reasons why it was bad is because it stopped the gourd from dealing damage - making Mal'Damba lose out extra kills and ultimate charge. Now, some of that damage has been added back! While the talent still provides a damage penalty, just the sheer fact that the gourd now does damage again is a really big deal!

i tried it in ranked without knowing it got buffed, just wanted to troll tbh. was surprised when it actually went really well and i heal diffed pretty hard. on a tight map like ice mines tho

Some cards are niche, but they are rather good on their niche. It would be _really_ nice if we could craft more loadouts than we can currently, so those cards would have an use on _that_ particular map with or against _that_ particular comp. That or letting us edit our loadouts before that match starts (which would be harder to implement for several reasons)

Ik it’s basically a joke now but I genuinely feel like Damba would benefit with Chosen Spirits being in base but instead of 350 it should be 200 since he’ll be pretty strong with a talent. I’d like to see the talent where if he “healed” an enemy then it does DMG to them

There used to be a talent that did that, if you used it on an enemy it did some decent damage. It was kinda broken because, while the damage wasnt insane, the skill itself has a ton of range, you basically could snipe with damba

@@chrismonge3215ig he knows, just that he forgot the name of the talent (like me), but yea it was just crazy. It'd be cool to have it back and toned down a bit, maybe increase the cooldown when used on an enemy to discourage it's usage or think twice before using it depending on the situation

tbh im grateful for this update for the exact reason you mentioned. im a console player and pretty new to the game, so with the aimed healing ability im only reaching my allies every 3/4th try. its really annoying and I though it was a bug at first, I only learned now that its because of the lack of aim assist. im sure ill get better at it with time but for now this talent update will be really helpful to keep me playing mal'damba

the problem with gourd talent is "it is another healing talent". For some reason evilmojo think that talents are defined by skills they are augumenting, while in reality they are defined by gameplay mechanic they are augumenting. Healing, control, damage, mobility, sustain, etc. If people have 2 healing talents they will just choose better one, and thats it. If gourd talent would cripple opponents in puddle it would become "control talent" and some people would prefer it.

10:01 man even when damba was meta he was often down there just 1 step above the sniper champs in winrate. just insane skill floor diff. you can probably count on one hand how many patches he even had positive winrate

The whole power creep discussion is a good discussion to have, but let's not act that supports being buffed randomly. They added flankers like Vatu, VII etc. that just made the game unplayable and unfun, especially for supports. I'm all for supports being toned back down if they also tone down the worst offenders in flank / off-tank class

That more of a teammate issue, if your teammates are not watching for the flank then the support is not to blame, Vatu got a nerf recently and VII too, it took them long enough to nerf VII but now we have a issue with double supports again. Almost all my matches today have been double support I’m beginning to lose my mind, now I gotta play support bc meta.

I think they can buff this talent by changing the "gourd projectile speed" to "gourd radius". Also they should increase its base healing to 100 instead of 65, this ability has longer cooldown than mending spirit, it should be healing more

You know, I've always wondered how balances work. Maldamba has a low pick rate even tho his kit is good, but it is because other supports have a more versatile and adaptable kit, right? I mean, damba is nit bad but when you compare it with others you can see some things lacking. But once those things that are lacking are fixed there will be a new "maldamba" who will need a buff and the cycle with repeat with another champion. Are balances a cyclic thing or will there be a moment where devs won't need to balance them again?

I just really dislike the ripened gourd playstyle. Imo spirits chosen is more fun to play since you can spread your healing around and don't need to rely on your (possibly) dumb frontline to plant his ass on the gourd. Also without spirits chosen your dmg and flank teammates will sometimes be left at less than full hp after your right click heal runs out forcing them to wait out of combat anyway

as a console player who enjoys damba as one of my most reliable supports i can say mending spirits is the best talent to play. if you have good aim then the aim assist doesn’t matter

Man fuck double support I got a team with 5 supports and we rolled the enemy team like it was nothing even tho they dropped 200k dps the healing was so overwhelming they couldn’t win

The Io didn't buy Chronos at all, which means they could've done more healing.

Barik also in my opinion is the worst point tank. He has to have time to set up his turrets to be at his best and if hes the only tank, he just gets melted with his low health

And just as I expected, barik did horrible. 0-8 basically out damaged by healers. He needs more health. He literally can't do anything once wrecker starts ramping up
