Lol if you choose packie as one of the heist crew members in GTA 5's paleto bay heist, packie mentions that Derrick is dead but no mention of Francis which hints or at least proves that killing Derrick is the cannon choice here. Even though each time I completed GTA 4, I killed Francis, there is something too satisfying about it 😅 don't know why.

@@radger6392 Because Packie rarely ever talks about Francis. Francis was never really close to his brothers and Packie was happy he died. That's why he didn't mention it. Derrick's death would have affected him cause he actually cared about him. And Derrick could have died from drugs too, not necessarily Niko

killing francis was the best choice. he was corrupt, he literally hired a hitman(niko) to wipe down his enemies (goldberg etc) who had evidence against him. he was too lazy to find evidence against clawrence so he ordered to kill him as well (though clawrence was sin but still). his brothers hated him, knowing he was an a$$hole, trying to look good but in truth he wasnt, kate didnt know much about him. as for derrick's case, he was rat too no lie, and theories among gta 4 fans suggest he might have ratted out gerald as well. but for the most part i feel like being bad and owning it is better than being bad and hiding it under a cop uniform. i have no regrets in saying this that in dozens of playthrough i've been through of this game, i've never killed derrick.

I always killed Derrick, he would eventually die of drug overdose anyway (I read about it on fandom) plus he is a rat who got his friends into jail to save his own skin. As for Francis he sure is a crook and would do anything to be in power, but killing Francis would simply make Packie and Gerald the only survivor in their Family.

After the blood brothers mission, since you killed Francis, the are no further interactions or missions involving Derrick. He just disappears. If you would've saved Francis, he could have helped clear your wanted level whenever you call him. So from that pov, killing Derrick would have been more beneficial.

I hope this doesn't count as a spoiler but the mission with Playboy X where you and him sat down to drink, Playboy asks Niko to kill Dwayne while telling him why. The same thing will happen with Dwayne calling Niko asking him to kill Playboy or something like that. I don't remember the entire conversation.
