I use that new Spellburst hammer in mine and it's pretty sweet It drops a 5/5 taunt or a 7/7 taunt right besides your Recruited minion, also the 2 damage is pretty nice

The thing about going first versus the coin is that most people skip turn one anyways so if i have a turn 1 play and my opponent doesnt, it is better to go second because i have an extra card and the coin. It is the same as going first but also having card advantage.
