I'm pretty sure the game against Jade Idol would've been lost even if you still had toxfin and the second ice block. With Aluneth you draw 4 per turn and opponent draws 2 with Guff, but the problem is each ignite only scales itself and shuffles 1. The jade idols scale together, and shuffle 3 at a time, so even with the draw disadvantage, they have a net scaling advantage.

Not sure why no one in chat pointed out that in the end of the opponent's line, there was no 50/50. If they popped, it left elekk on board, meaning roffle sets the block and shuffles 6

In the first game, the Warrior could have won if they would have guessed that you had Ice Block and Flame Ward. Tough to expect that of a PWar though. They could have traded one of the minions that would die to the Flame Ward into the Elekk, which would then still allow them to put you to 1 and then pop with the weapon.

I think the real problem in the infinite jade vs ignite matchup is that they get to actively create more jades whereas without Elekk you're just recycling the same 4 ignites. If they're smart and don't just spam one jade per turn then outscaling them doesn't really matter. They just play 6 jades and you can only clear 4-5, letting them get a hit in next turn. When they've gotten their line breaker combo off and gained 2k+ armor, I don't think you're likely to kill them before that cycle happens at least 3 times, which would kill through at least one ice block if not both.

There's also the problem where he's hard capped at 5 ignite casts per turn regardless, while also not actively scaling every single ignite cast. Ignite is a lot less scary a prospect for jade when its dealing n damage 4-5 times instead of scaling that n every single cast (made apparent by not being able to trade an ignite cast 1 for 1 with a jade summon).

@@KoopaKrump That's fair. I wasn't sure if needing to continually cast 4 per turn meant that on balance you would outscale them casting 5 every 4 turns, or whether it would do so in time. But then as you say you're still likely left with one ignite stuck in your hand not scaling because you're only drawing 4 cards. EDIT: actually with the guff hero power drawing an extra card they can cast 5 golems every 3 turns, so the scaling is a lot closer than I originally thought. Even if you would eventually outscale them over infinity turns here's no way it would happen before they killed you.

You can't scale Ignite faster than Jade Idols. If you cast four Ignites that are all at 6 damage, now they're all at 7, meanwhile four Jade Idols would make a 6/6, 7/7, 8/8, and 9/9. You already need more than one Ignite for each.

Yeah, you can't really outscale jades in the short term. Guff's hero power means an average scaling of 1.33 per turn whereas your ignites can by definition only scale 1 damage per turn. Sure you have more of them, but as the opponent showed, stack up enough jades and that doesn't matter.

Having 6 ignites instead of 4 is a double-edged sword since you only scale the ones you play. On top of that each jade golem only needs to beat the ignite by 1hp to require 2 ignites to kill (hero power can clean up 1hp per turn but that's not enough even with only 2 jade golems on board).

@@calibur3943 Firstly, it's 2x0.66 vs 4x1 if you look at how much each card scales individually. It is the scaling of it that is 1 vs 1.33. The ignites physically cannot grow more than 1 damage a turn if you do not have in-turn draw. For jades, on the other hand, each jade golem scales up every subsequent jade. Hence a single jade will be worth more than a single ignite. This wouldn't be a problem if the opponent was stupid and just played jade golems each turn, but because of the scaling it is inevitable that you will eventually need two ignites to kill one jade golem (until the ignites reach 30). Therefore, if more than two jades enter play at once and you have no means of stalling against them, you will get hit in the face. Given the amount of armor in play, the opponent has ample time to save up a hand full of golems and spit them out all at once, so defeat really is inevitable. Something that could have won is double apprentice and an auctioneer, as by that point you can repeatedly draw between two zero-cost ignites to quickly scale up into much higher damage and gain a head start -- after which you can go into aluneth and duplication as planned to avoid death by fatigue. With the given deck list it just wasn't going to happen though.
