I know BMW's don't normally have a dedicated panic button but I'm fairly certain I've set off a panic mode by holding the trunk button. Normally you hold the trunk button for 1-2 seconds or so and release and the trunk will open but if you continue to hold the trunk button is should set the alarm off. Granted I believe if it's a lower cost BMW like a 328i without options they wouldn't come standard with the alarm system(absolutely ridiculous).

You are correct for e60 you can just hold the trunk button down for panic. In fact, some key fob covers actually have the trunk button in red to indicate the fact.

E46 has a one-of-a-kind look (even the base model looks awesome and not that different from the M3 look). The squared rear-view mirrors are fire. Later BMW lines are way more "mainstream" and lack character imo. Keep it ;) I have a 320i (M54B22) and everytime I see it, I keep thinking E90 and F30 lines didn't age as well and look "meh" compared to their M3 versions (that don't look that awesome anyways).

I was really excited about a different key fob until i saw it. I do have comfort access on ky E99. Key points of failure for me: - Button that does nothing - can't replace the battery yourself?! The digital key would be the most interesting. Would be nice if they came with a leather pouch to protect the key.

Also the ID4 cluster absolutely does not fit properly. I did the exact cuts on my air vents and I had to butcher my car to even get it withing one half an inch from the screws. Had several other people message me with the same problem. There's absolutely no way that thing fits. Not to mention it has massive bugs that they aren't fixing. Battery drain issues, beeps like crazy when your fuel light comes on. And not just once. Every time you reach a certain speed it beeps about low fuel. Cruise control indicator is way off. They haven't released firmware since December. Forget about support. If I were you I'd stop selling that product..

@@Brian-jv8iy I promise you I cut the template and was at least 2 inches away from the factory holes. Then I literally cut almost my entire vent out and it was still 1/4 inch away from the holes. I had to cut the gauge cluster mounts completely off and it's still not right.

I've owned 2 e92s both with comfort access, and occasionally (maybe 1-2 out of 10 starts) both would not start without inserting the key. Have you had that issue before or after the upgrade? If so, how did you fix it?

The digital key looks cool but in my opinion it is more of a gimmick than a feature. You need to charge it regularly, it can break quite easily for a key, it is really buggy and makes everything more complicated without adding any features

my m3 has comfort access but its nice to have a little "key holder" for when you don't want to hold the key in your pocket. Only thing keeping me from buying this key upgrade is losing that feature, even though I have comfort access. I really hope you are right and gates is making an adaptor for the key insert, I would buy in a heartbeat!!

Too many drawbacks to consider getting one. What's the point of having a 'cool' keyfob, if it has less functionality than the OEM unit? Many of the models you can't even use if you don't have the comfort access functionality. Then you can't fit an E chassis key blade in there so if anything happens to the comfort access or the battery goes flat, you can't get in at all. Not to mention the panic button that doesn't do anything! And the F chassis keyfob is a gimmick imho, a laggy touchscreen that does the same stuff but slower than the buttons on its side...

I make keys, the first Beamer not using the original key if the battery on the remote dies or the remote is damaged you wont be able to start bc the key can’t fit into the slot. That’s the failsafe

For 7 years I drove cars through an auction house in the UK. I drove hundreds of BMWs, including lots of E90s. I myself have a 2010 E90. My keyfob, and every car with a keyfob just like that, has to be inserted into the dashboard. The replacement Keyfob that you're showing doesn't go into the dashboard like mine and all of the others that I drove either. Why not?

obviously you can get a new battery but until then youre sol. believe ill stick with the original key. and not to mention if your car battery is dead then you wont be able to get in the car at all. cause you would need to manually unlock it and put a new battery in the car. and without the old key you will really be shit out of luck and wont be able to get in the car without breaking a window.

Yes except youll need a key thats already programmed to the car to send off to them. They cannot program a key without your old one first.
