Just adjust the angle of the screen so that you're not seeing the reflection out the back window. That's not a significant issue with these things. The biggest problem is the focal distance. When you look in a mirror, your eyes focus at the actual distance to the object you're seeing in it. When you look at a digital screen, your eyes have to focus at the distance to the screen, regardless of how far away the object is. With a normal mirror, that means your eyes don't have to refocus between looking ahead and glancing at the rear view, because in both cases, you're focusing at a distance. With a digital mirror, your going from focusing at a distance (out the front windshield) to focusing super-close in (at the digital screen), and your eyes probably can't do that in just a momentary glance. You have to look at it longer. And it becomes much worse if you're at all near-sighted, and wearing glasses to help you focus on the distant objects. Now when you try to glance at the rearview digital mirror, your eyes may not be able to adjust at all! I had a digital in my car (I just removed it), and I could see that there was somebody in view, but usually couldn't tell if they were in my lane or another lane without taking my glasses off. That, and the fact that lights in the digital mirror at night would wash it out completely.

I have a Pormido PR996. I drive a Chevy Express, so I have a similar problem with not being able to see out the rear windows. Some idiot tonight decided to make a left turn from the right lane, and I barely avoided T-boning them. Checked the dash cam footage when I got home, and it's basically just headlight glare. For insurance purposes, it would be enough to show fault, but I couldn't even see the driver or the license plate. In a hit and run, it would probably be useless. I'm seeing people online talking about polarizing filters. I may try that. I don't really have any complaints other than the poor image quality and glare. I've had it for 3 1/2 years, and I don't think there was anything which was much better when I got it. I also had the issue with the time. I believe you can turn off setting the time with GPS, or maybe I just used a different time zone. I can't remember, but I know it was an hour off. Probably better systems available now. I may get a different one. I would like the interior camera as well.

The mirror being reflective is actually a big benefit imo.. if, for whatever reason, the mirror doesnt start up or there's any technical issue, you can still use it as a regular mirror until you fix the problem. Just adjust the viewing angle so it doesnt reflect. it's very tolerant when it comes to viewing angles... I have 3 of these installed in my car and would never wanna have a car without.

Hello, didnt the anti glare laminated film work? I read from amazon that it comes with a laminated film as an optional thing you can use. It says its supposed to minimize reflection.

I have the same issue. I have a big rear wing on a GT4 and have looked at this product in the past, but did not pull the trigger. Did you solve your issue with something else? I don't like my setup even on the road because I like to adjust the side mirrors out to eliminate my blind spot, but if I can't use the primary rearview mirror effectively this doesn't work and I need the side mirrors pulled in to see what is behind me. Anyway, if you solve the problem I would love to know how you did it. Thanks for the video.

I had the exact same unit as far as the reflection goes. All you have to do is just aim it towards your headliner. You can still see the display, but you do not get the reflection anymore. These things are great, but they suck, and they are very cheap quality.

I have the azdome pg17 at first it was good but now that summer is coming and you need to wear sunglasses you wish the mirrors lcd display can go brighter but then again it's a cheaply made product (about $70 for me since the seller discounted 5% and got $70 with tax). I'm also considering putting anti glare/polarized lens so the big gass trucks won't shine the camera rendering the camera unable to see details clearly and with the cheap lcd display with mediocre resolution and together with grainy resolution video output when you viewed it on a PC, I wish GoPro would enter this market co'z my aging go pro hero session max resolution 1080 wide at 30fps beats the video output quality as you can see license plates compared to this rear mirror dashcams.

Yeah, the fall is super-busy for us in our business and I simply didn't have time to do much for fun. But things should pick up quite a bit now!
