This DITCH is FULL of FISH! (Unexpected Creatures)

In this video, I head to a small creek running through a ditch!
The entire creek is a few inches deep, but there is a deep hole completely FULL of fish and other creatures! I end up catching some pretty cool fish, and eventually some pretty big fish, out of this tiny body of water!
It is crazy what you can catch out of random areas like this!
THANK YOU FOR WATCHING! Please leave a LIKE for more creek videos!

Growing up me and my brother would walk along the bayou till we found small, deep holes (normally by drainage pipes).. I've caught several 3+ lb bass from holes just like this! Those drainage creeks get a lot of water from rain and are full of water often and then come summer the water gets like this in the video and ALL the big fish are bundled up in a small hole. I live in Houston, we have bayou's and drainage creeks like this everywhere.

Pleco's will take wet flies. You kind of have to sight fish them when the water has more clarity though. Just something to keep in mind if & when the opportunity ever presents itself.
@TyPigPatrol
@TyPigPatrol 5 жыл бұрын
Really? Do they even have enough vision to see it?
@65FullMoon83
@65FullMoon83 5 жыл бұрын
@@TyPigPatrol Yea, they can see it if the water is clear enough. Like I tried to say, you have to make the fly presentation close to where you visually see them so they see it. Seems to work best in moving water though but it'll work in stagnant water as well. They feed mainly on algae, small insects & larvae. They'll actively hop on & eat small insects, flies & larvae being washed downstream or near them. They'll also actively search for food as well. Aquarium pleco's will actively eat flake, pellet, worms, lettuce, peas as well as wood & algae. They're really not picky eaters. They're said to be quite tasty & I think you should do a catch & cook. *How to clean & cook Pleco on the half shell* kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWm8Xq2ZabWjhpY Make sure you get them from a reasonably clean water source though. I don't think I'd even eat Bass, Crappie or Bluegill out of most of those city retention ponds you fish.

A great hour of fishing. What a mixed bag. Nice pleco and great carp. Carp on 2-4 lb line is a bit much, I have caught some lunkers, butas yoiu found out, it takes dorever to land them, and nothing is worse than fighting it for i/2 hour and having it bust you with a lunge, or on its dorsal spine. Lol, Rio Grande Chilid.

@AndrewFishman
@AndrewFishman 5 жыл бұрын
@@TyPigPatrol Don't take it to heart mate. I have worked for 30 some years in the aquarium industry in one form or other and heard all sorts of pronunciations for cichlid. The most common is Chiclid. I actually like Chilid. Just made me laugh. I use 8 pound test as my go to line and leader for carp. We get some bruisers around here, but I find anything heavier really compromises the catch rate. They really are flighty fish and a heavy leader is a sure way to spook them off the bait, especially in the clear water we usually have.

Well it's a tiny hole of water and the fish there are STARVING. Me and my dad fished a ditch once with the same issue. We pulled out the sickest looking large bluegill you have ever seen. They were sickly and wasted away. It was sad to see fish looking so thin and weak. These fish don't look like that but if it doesn't rain things will only get worse. It's a damn ditch and nature is taking it's course just like it would in a real stream that is drying up.

Back in the day....I would set up my fly rod w a little popper that looked like a mulberry. The carp in the river would be camped out under the mulberry trees that hung over the river banks. Great Fun!!

go to the bayou off of Hopper. If you go west on Hopper off of 59. Go 2 blocks past Foy an follow bayou going North. I see fish over 1 to 2 foot everyday. If you keep following the path north over the walk bridge into the woods an walk about 300 yards you will come to a wetland area with walking paths across the pond. You will not even know your in Houston. Its so quite an surrounded by woods an concrete hiking trails. There is fish, turtles, deer an rabbits everywhere. An a couple years back there was a gator back there.
