There’s a big learning curve with the SimplePulse! It took way longer at first but now we are down to 3 minutes or so per doe! We do have to milk them out at the end, every time, but we have a little 4 cup measure that we pour into the inflator at the end of milking :) Try tightening the little black parts at the bottom, that helped get our pressure up above 10! Keep up the good work!

The milk parlor is looking great, and I'm sure it will just take a little time to adjust to the milk machine. Learning new skills takes time! While it's sad to see Little bit and Schillie go, I just keep thinking of how many people you you'll be making happy by selling those does, because others can buy them them to improve their herds, and they must be so excited by that. If I could get my hands on one of Blue Cactuses established does, I'd be over the moon!

Ok. That same machine is at the farm. When you go to put the pulsater onto the teets press the bottom and release once on teet & it’ll attach to the teet. When finished milking the udder strip out into it then press the bottom & it’ll suck the stripped milk down.

Love seeing more growth in the ranch. I just got my first goats and it’s after watching your videos for 2 years and learning so much. Your family is a blessing. And your kiddos will be so much smarter because they do real things instead of virtual nonsense . Be thankful and happy for the great life you all have!! I even love Arizona after watching your family. But South Dakota is my home and apart from our winters in the black hills the weather here is fairly decent. Have a blessed day and I look forward to getting in or two of you pulled blue eyed buckling and does in the future!!

I love the phrase you used “virtual nonsense”! I predict in one generation’s time the virtual nonsense is going to make a major impact on society such that mental illness from lack of real interaction will be catastrophic. Or maybe life will be better for them - who knows what the future holds? Anyhow, I also think having real skills will be an asset for the BCDG kiddos.

Emily you're a Trooper!! Your making great memories with your momma And your doing an awesome job!! Crystal the new machine and the new setup is an awesome forward step.... It's just like everything is going to take some time to get a little used to it. I was watching Johnson family Homestead because they also raise goats for show and they use a milk machine for their ladies... Out of it makes the job easier than that's a plus. But I'm sure starting off there's going to be a lot of things to get it down pat and get adjusted. Keep on doing a fantastic job and you are greatly appreciated and your ladies are lovely and those who have gone off to other families and other homesteads are going to be well-loved and taken care of. And as always Derek great job in transporting the goats 2 their forever homes

I switched to Top Flow Z teat cups. Made it SO much easier. They are worth the expense! Also, if the pressure is too high, it pulls too much and they don’t like it. You’ll figure it out in time. Seems like it takes longer while you’re all learning but I think it is more efficient than hand milking. Milk is cleaner also since it’s not exposed to the air. The goats will be holding back some until they get used to it. I also bump using the teat cups towards the end so they release. I also don’t use the glass jars, I changed it out to a large stainless steel milk pail. Good luck!
@lizouellette30722 жыл бұрын
There is a bit of a learning curve with the SP, but once you get it down you can milk a goat in like 3 mins. Look to see if you can adjust the vacuum so that your needle is in the green - that will make a lot of difference. We ended up strapping the does for the first few milkings so that they would get used to the inflations. Watch that the "button" on the bottom of the inflation doesn't get stuck as this sometimes happens and will cause less vacuum. Check all lids to make sure they are tight and any/all connections are really snug as well. I have RA and the SP has been such a blessing for milking.

You gals are doing great!!! Sounds like others are giving you great advice to tweak your system. You will get faster and more confident it will just take time!! Your hands will thank you for not hand milking!!! One thing that will help is your new stand. The height will save your back and put you at a better position for getting the teat into the cup. Also have 12 does on the stand will allow for a much smoother transition. I also think over time your girls will let their milk down easier and some of the messaging won't be needed. I expect very soon you are going to love your machine. Derek has really been hard at work!!! He does a great job and your milking parlor looks amazing!!! Sad to see Lit Bit and Schillie go but I'm sure they will be loved greatly!!! Thanks for sharing and stay safe!!!

I got a Simple Pulse recently as well, and was just as unimpressed as you are, LOL. It took some figuring out and now I can milk in half the time. My big issue with saving time was I ended up having to wait for the doe to finish their grain anyway. However I started bringing 2 does in at once (I only have one set of inflations) and they both eat their grain and then I milk one after the other. They are usually done with grain in time it takes me to milk both of them. If that’s an issue in your milking line, that should be taken care of once you get the big stand finished and have 12 does up there. The other thing I was just taught a couple weeks ago is to strip the doe at the end-just pull down slightly on the inflations and hold steady pressure. It works well to get that extra milk out so you don’t have to hand strip. (In your case with the Dwarfs I suppose it’ll be pulling towards the back a little because the claw is already resting on the ground, LOL.)

I milked by hand for years then got a machine. Didn’t use it a lot because I was proficient by hand. Then I hurt a couple fingers. Now I have to use it until my fingers heal. With practice it has become much easier to use the machine. Glad I have the choice.

Agreed on the Simple Pulse! I started using it in March, and I now love mine but it took the first few weeks of adjusting everything and learning how to clean it, etc. It also took the does a few weeks to let down evenly on both sides, etc. Be sure to bang up on the bag a few times to let the girls know it's time to let down! I now listed for the "suck" when it gets on the teat properly. You'll get the hang of it! I don't have to strip my NIgis at the end any more, but the Nubians hold back a bit. I love the cleanliness of the milk. Hang in there.

They will actually get use to the pressure of the machine and next year you will not need to message as much. It stops before it completely milks out so that it doesn’t accidentally damage the teat.
@sarahhamilton54602 жыл бұрын
We love our simple pulse..... it took some getting used to but wouldn't trade it for anything now. Always double check the lid components on your jars when the pressure is low. If anything is even a little loose you'll lose suction. Same with the overflow jar.

I don't have any goats yet, but I've done a lot of research for when I finally do get some. And almost everything I've read on the machines is that it usually takes a few days of figuring it out and tinkering with it and getting it calibrated for things to finally run smoothly. But after it does finally start going smoothly, it is definitely worth it. So I'm sure it'll end up working out well for yall. But I know how frustrating it can be completely changing an established practice that you already use and works for you lol. Thanks for the upload. And hi from Seattle. Hope yall are doing well and staying cool from the heat down there.

I would recommend a Capralite "herdsmen" if you're looking to milk 12 at once. I know it fits 2 goats, but it's heavy duty andnseems to be worthwhile! They are supposedly a better machine than the Simple Pulse, I've heard people swear by them. It may or may not even be able to get less hot, I have yet to put in my order but I'm sure going to before I get a Simple Pulse. Wish your family and your herd well! 🥰
