The reason it's that close is because the more mining speed you have, the less it makes a difference, I believe it's called the law of diminishing returns

The drill actually gives a mining speed boost on gemstones that doesn't add to your stats, which is why it mines faster than the gauntlet. If you test the gauntlet against a pickonimbus, it should mine a bit faster.

I started playing Skyblock after the pets update and of all the updates my favorite by far is the crystal hollows. The various ways to make profits off it, the exploration, the grinds, every aspect of it I love. I hope the blazing fortress rework sees similar aspects but focused more on combat rather than mining. I would love to explore a massive nether fighting withers and blazes
