I reckon that as far as the future of electric 2 wheelers, bicycle technology rather than motorcycle technology is the way to go. Effectively, these more powerful bikes are electric mopeds, and early mopeds were much more like bicycles than full-on motorcycles. The Maeving electric motorcycle has gone the route of trying hard to look like a traditional motorcycle, so consequently, for the performance it achieves, it is very heavy and very expensive (£5-6k!). These days, with disc brakes, suspension forks and fat tyres, bicycles are approaching low powered motorcycles in terms of technology and capability. I remember when Honda started developing 50cc racing motorcycles they used bicycle-type rim brakes! As regards the legality and legislation, it's going to take a while for things to catch up with how things are developing in the real world and on real roads.

@@e-VRC I've come from touring, commuting and racing regular bikes, having a 50cc scooter and ending up with a cargo e-bike. I've watched with interest the growth of the e-bike scene, and I reckon the type of electric motorcycle that Maeving are making is a dead end - too heavy, way too expensive, too much motorcycle tech and too much focussed on the image of pretending to be a retro-stye motorcycle. My other observation about mopeds and 50cc scooters is that in Europe they are pretty well regarded as the sort of thing that every household has, handy for any member of the family to nip down the shops or the cafe. In the UK mopeds and bicycles were often derided as a bit of a joke, only used by folk who couldn't afford a car so they had a stigma that simply doesn't exist in places like Italy, Netherlands, France etc. These days, in the Netherlands e-bikes have overtaken trad bike sales for a few years now.

I get the desire to go fast, but over 27mph with an ebike is generally illegal in the united states and subject to seizure, registration/licensing, fines/tickets, dirty looks on bike/pedistrian trails if your going to fast and seemingly out of control etc. Also, at 30mph + you can get into trouble/danger quickly if you see an object in the roadway last second (if you hit it, more than likely time for a spill, cars not giving you the right away at a intersection, dooring, etc. I do want the 27mph capability going uphill as well as the flats since I live in a hilly area. All level 3 bikes can do the 27mph in the flats but taper off going uphill which probably leverages the over 27mph speed issue to compensate on most ebikes

For less than $200 more i could get a Wired Cruiser, it's faster and still looks like a bike so less attention from cops, and has a carrying rack on the back and better suspension 😁

@@e-VRC slightly, I just wish we could have a normal mountain bike frame with like 2.2 inch wide tires. I also don't really like fat tires as there aren't many puncture proof options whereas you can just use marathon plus on a regular bike.

ebike? E-Motorbike...really Its a reason legalisation gonna hit these bikes
@Biggusdickuss1113 ай бұрын
You're right, they are e motorbikes, they should be categorised as such, but they're trying to capture the ebike market but its unfair on buyers as if you live in a city or large town you can bet the local federales will take an interest in it with it looking like a motorcycle and powerful with it. Myself l would be happy for it to be classed as e moped or motorbike, the couple hundred insurance a year woud be worth it for peace of mind that l could ride it without the fear of it being taken from me.

This review is too much about your foolish mistake and not enough about the bike. Admitting mistakes is great but it's just padding the length here. Take a page from tailhappytv, maybe the best reviewer on yt. Concise, edited, same test loop mostly with several tests. The most interesting aspect of this bike for video in the uk is legality. Ride by a few police stations and make it interesting lol. Most won't even consider this bike because of its moto looks. If ridstar gas a problem with that they shouldn't bother with that bike in the UK.
@e-VRC4 ай бұрын
I don't know if you've ever seen my other videos but they are literally as you described. Same test loop with tests along the way. I did consider already what you said about padding etc but I decided that actually this is pretty much 2 bikes. The bike that most people may ride day to day: single motor to save power and have a calmer ride. And the dual motor monster to have some fun. So whilst I was riding with only one motor all the info given was relevant but also gave an impression of 1. How it is with 1 motor and 2. What the Ridstar Q20 (non pro model) would be like. I reckon in a 21 minute video there's maybe an extra 1 minute of video due to my mistake. I.e. me talking about the mistake BEFORE the mistake. And when I talk about it after the mistake is realised, we're seeing the performance of the bike anyway. So yeah I do think about editing and trying to keep things tight (e.g. I don't jabber on in front of the box and give my life story before riding it) but in this I made the conscious decision to shake things up a bit and keep it in for the laughs and to get the contrast of the 2 modes. In result, the retention of this video is much higher than most of my others. It's ok that you weren't keen on it and I know I didn't have to explain myself. But I've just woken up and just lying in bed for a bit and thought 'what the hell let's write it'. I do like tailhappy, I catch his vids from time to time. I probably should make reviews like his they'd be a lot quicker to edit and film. I also like his thumbnails and I often take a look at his for inspiration when I'm considering words to grab attention: He actually has a thumbnail that says 37mph and it seemed to work 👍 anyway thanks for watching and your input I'm always interested in what people think and do take everything on board 🤟👌👍

This is really just an illegal 50cc equivalent, the ebike laws are dumb as hell but this one crosses the line for me. The brakes and tyres are clearly not up to it, try an emergency stop on bicycle brakes from 37mph and see how far you can fly.
@e-VRC4 ай бұрын
Yeah I won't be trying that haha. Already skidding at 18 😬😬 it really doesn't need to go this fast does it. My ideal ebike speed would be 20 but 28 for example is fast enough for anyone on an ebike.

If this thing is churning out a top speed on the flat as shown ; you need gloves, jacket and a proper helmet ... oh and ditch the trainers ... Am an ex biker living in London and over the last couple of years have seen e-bikes reach a level of performance and speed that would be at the same level as a motorbike under urban speed limits regardless of whether it's an L20 (my current "Ride") or a Vespa 125 or mid range Cruiser (mine was a custom Rat-job VXS 650) ... got dropped just off the Mile End Road at 25 Mph in rush (got T-Boned by a feck womble doing an un-annouced U-turn ) ... Shoei Full Face Helmet, Belstaff Armoured Tourist Trophy Jacket, PROPER laether jeans n RedWing Boots ... 2 weeks off work, permanent dodgy hip n ankle ... take what these things can deliver seriously ...
