Who buried Paul refers to Strawberry Fields? So if creators are the key, then Jim Morrison, with strawberry fields forever it's Paul McCartney and John Lennon and if we're talking professor Moriarty then Arthur Conan Doyle? Only relation I can find between these is that 3 of these are British and also 3 are musicians. Clearly I'm missing something there to link all 4 creators together.

"I'll do what I can to slow the launch sequence, but there's something inside the ship..a presence that's fighting back. For a covenantnant construct, it's unusually formidable." Also when the music (infected) stops playing Cortana says this " I'm running out of options, Chief. I can't stall the launch sequence much longer. "

In the context of Cortana being the voice, in the Joe, Marty and Jason video commentary for Halo 2 Joe says that despite all the changes to Halo 2's ending the post credits scene with Cortana and the Gravemind didn't change. In other words if it is meant to be her that aspect of the story didn't change since around the time Earth Ark and the other major cuts to the game's ending were still in development or at least before the final list of levels we got was confirmed.
@GabrhilКүн бұрын
This just gives me a knee-jerk kind of idea. What if whatever the voice is saying is just a spoiler for the end of the game? Like, Marty's just flat out telling you how it ends, and what happens to Cortana? Just a shot in the dark.
@Freelancer837Күн бұрын
Yeah, this is something we know since the original Halo 2 storyboards did not give a conclusion to Cortana/High Charity/Flood plotlines. The last we saw of Cortana in the storyboards was even a fakeout death on High Charity where Chief left her behind because he thought she was destroyed on High Charity. The original Halo 3 would've maybe been more like Gears of War 3 where the secondary antagonist faction that became a bigger threat over the past two games would become basically the main threat/faction of the third game. With it being the Flood for Halo as the Lambent were for Gears of War.

Considering that Halo 2 was meant to be the end of the series, and the story writers fully intended to leave Cortana with the Gravemind, I think that the extreme electronic distortion is a hint that the second voice is Cortana, especially after she's been tortured by the Gravemind. The cyclical nature of the Halo lore means that it playing repeatedly throughout the game fits this theme, first as foreshadowing, then as narration, then as a retelling.

Im betting that sections of the voice have been reversed and scrambled. Not the entire thing, mind, but segments of it, like individual words or phrases. In the cleaned audio, I was very vaguely hearing actual words, or at least something resembling actual words, like “beware” and “at all” or “in all.” But at the same time, the segments between those individual vague words and phrases sound backwards and possibly even disjointed. Maybe the “unhappy girl” comment Marty made was a hint to the presence of reversed segments, and heck, maybe the name of the singer being an anagram is a hint as well, suggesting that we need to treat individual words or phrases within the audio like letters in an anagram as well. The hard bit will still be making the audio actually understandable, but maybe that might be something to look into.
