It was perfect, nothing is told to you, there is no narration, you discover everything just like Aira is discovering it, the music getting stronger and faster as what we are seeing is getting more and more horrible, as you expect what will happen and yet it still strikes you, even the happy moments with her daughter make you actually cry from happiness and sadness at the same time, the fact that she sells her body for her children yet she still gets happy in every moments with her daughter, and the animation, the bright colors when she is with her, then the colors getting dark, she gets beaten up, she ends up running after the people who kidnapped her children, the lights when she runs to get them, the realism of that scene, the clear impossibility of her doing something, yet you see a mother who has the rage to go after her children eventhough she is about to die, that dance, her being on top of the city and inside of the sky, the fall, the sound, the subtle meanings, the mom losing her mind in the afterlife and the colors fading slowly, only to appear again thanks to Aira calling her mom, Aira being the only one that has colors in that scene, how much love was put in that anime is just, I can't even believe it.

At that time, many people did not realize how bad the economic situation was and chose to borrow loan sharks from the underworld in order to start over. But later they found that not only could they not start over, they could not even repay the loan sharks, so they had to use various methods to make money. This led to the tragedy in the film that the underworld violently collects debts and even abducts children.

The mother was working two jobs as well as doing sex work on the side in order to take care of her child. It's clearly implies that she was struggling financially, and having a hard time with everything aside from the moments when she was with her daughter.... Probably in heavy debt and struggling to pay that off, but still being a good mother to her child. The money she used for the dress was taken from an envelope, so the implication is it was money put aside for somthing specific. Most likely for her debt, that she took money out of to get one nice thing for her daughter.... Landing the debt collectors to her door soon enough. A heartbreaking story. 😭

With the boys she would pretend to be a clutz that likes them to make them feel better, but with Silky when she saw that she was missing her daughter and to give her peace in her last moments Aira pretended to be Silky's child so she could go to the afterlife. And I’m a manga reader I knew it was coming! and this episode was perfect 🥹 I can’t wait for the next one it’s going to be funnier and more action stuff. A good breather between backstories of the Yokais

I agree, this episode and Fan Letter were both masterclasses in direction, cinematography, animation and storytelling.

The flashback starting with the mom waking up naked in a love hotel with 30000 yen (a little less than $300) shows the price she was willing to sell her body for her daughter to have a better life. such an emotional and devastating scene

If you’re blessed enough that you can still give your mom a hug after this please do, and give an extra one to her for those of us who no longer can. 😭💞

Thank you for your reaction video today. The was a very beautiful yet very heartbreaking episode and as a reader of the manga, it was nice to have a form of closure, if u will, to see some else feel the same way I do about Acro-Silky's past. Had me crying real bad😢❤

One little detail I appreciate about this episode/chapter is that there was no unnecessary fuss about lips touching lips during the CPR part. It was treated with the urgency and desperation it deserved, could've easily been a throwaway gag in some other shows

So the implication in the flashback is that Silky was paying the Yakuza some of her earnings, and when she bought her daughter the dress she wound up short, so they came to collect, taking all her money as well as the girl. One of the saddest stories in the manga. Yea, it gets worse.

Fun fact, the flashback sequence lasts for 7 minutes and 7 minutes is exactly how long the brain remembers your life after you die

In Japan there's not as big a stigma in leaving a child alone in their home for hours on end. In fact it's not surprising to see very young children capable of taking care of themselves, cooking meals, etc, while a single parent is away. It's a work-culture after all, and that doesn't go away just because you're the only parent. Or sometimes if a kid has no parents but has property they can live under. It's pretty wild.

Kikuko Inoue's performance was phenomenal and heart wrenching, I imagine she hugged her other co-stars after recording since she is a mother in real life.

That’s when i started to love Aira, she may has a bad mentality at first and not introduced as a good person but in this episode we can see how good she can be and how much empathy she has

Suicide rates are very high in Japan, especially among young school children, so the idea of portraying a "romantic" balletic dance off a roof into her death would raise flags to TV Censores. I'm glad the Animator made it into a very creative dramatic manner with enough subtle hints of what is happening if you look and listen closely.

its common in Japan, when someone indebted to "MaFia" if you can't pay they will take something "precious" to you whether it's a living thing or not.

In the manga it’s a little more graphic, acrobatic silky even did prostitution to support her daughter. Dandadan has a lot of moments like this. Love this series . Wait until you meet zuma, shit had me crying reading the manga.

After science saru delivered an episode like this, we realized that Dandadan is not just fighting, comedy, romance, slice of life and supernatural. Dandadan has just become something special in the world of anime (and from what little I know about the Manga, there will be a lot more of what we saw today). Science Saru, please don't make Dandadan just another one or two season anime. It's an anime that deserves much more and will win over even more fans. Please do not cancel or leave the anime unfinished. Continue for many years. 🙏 To those who read this comment, recommend this work to your friends. I don't want it to be just a Peak for a year or two. dandadan won my heart
