Great video. I myself am currently a landscape contractor and love the idea of farming. I have worked the markets a little the past two years, I enjoy the winter, late winter, & spring growing 10 x better than summer. I have a hard time seeing the numbers work to farm full time without really scaling up. I know quality over quantity wins every time but the roi doesn’t seem likes it’s there.

Taking the summer off, July August, seems to be a great plan. However, this past year Septmber was very hot and dry also.

Great video, it is hard to get the opinions of true farmers like this, without a camera they keep to themselves. I do this type of farming too, I let the big farms have their volume, but I show up early and late, I find planting green beans in greenhouses in march-april is the best money maker besides salad. The big thing I don't like about this style of farming is all the plastic, it is merely impossible to be a viable shoulder season farm without vast amounts of plastic, I dismantled my 6 year old farm this winter and there was SOOO much plastic trash, I reuse plastic, from 20x100s to 10x50s to using plastic for greenhouse end walls and propogation rooms. Still a lot of plastic, I know a farm who covers their property 100% in plastic as mulch and greenhouses, the wife got cancer two years ago. And it is yet to be seen what effect this plastic has on us humans, leaving plastic outside in the sun for years, breathing the off gas, I know farmers who were around during the introduction of affordable greenhouse plastic, They used to use blowers to inflate sheets that were weighed down by bales of straw. So it is yet to be seen what this newly introduced technology is going do to us who use it. Then again I am now a mushroom farmer, and I literally cook plastic bags full of substrate at 200f for 24 hours... Plastic..

Josh, I noticed David has different types of hoop houses. He seems to have thought everything out carefully. I'm wondering if there's one style he prefers over another and why.

Hey Jeff. Yes, he has tunnels from a few different manufacturers. He did talk to me a bit about the differences, but I don't remember. We even talked about making a video about it, but we filmed so much other stuff the day I was there. Shoot him a message through Instagram or his website if you have questions. That contact info is in the video description.

Wow! Chard on steroids:-) I wonder what his strategy is to keep rodents out of the warm housing in the cold weather. He's SO right. He carefully positions his crops with custom timing to have his produce hold it's value. This is genius!

The sound of it he only takes off the month of August. He said he works through the end of July and starts back in September
