"Use your head. He's too much for you." This shows Vegeta's character development. Previous Vegeta would probably scold Trunks. "How could you not fight Black? Where is your Saiyan pride? He killed everyone you love so step up and do something." Or if he did advice him away from fighting, it would be in a condescending way. "I'm all that's needed here." Or "You'll just get in the way." But no, he's genuinely showing concern for Trunks. I know he does so before this but to this extent is a sign of how he's developed in my opinion.

@@andrewjessen827 I get that what I'm hoping is for an answer that let him to attain that transformation besides just being angry because every Saiyan can angry. Maybe when he sparred with Vegeta he absorbed some god ki. Maybe it has to do with the S cells that he was able to tap into. Trunks from heroes attained ssg red, but that's not our Trunks of course, because he has purple hair and is obviously from a different timeline. I feel we as fans need answers to this day. Maybe it's the same rage boost Vegeta had when Beerus slapped Bulma except hybrids tap into that rage a lot better than full blooded Saiyans.

People forgetting in Toriyama's version of this Trunks he became an actual Kai apprentice which is something Gohan didn't even really do. He trained with the Z sword longer, so maybe it helped him tap into his own potential in another way. Gohan trained on the kai world, but Trunks in the manga was actually inducted into their society. His training and getting beaten up by SSB Vegeta and Zamasu/Black likely helped him tap into something all his own.

(If you need any examples just look into the current starwars cannon they trip over their own rules constantly) Dragon Ball being no exception, though completely forgetting an entire character’s existence like with Launch….is less understandable. I feel writers need to start writing some sort of “lore bible” full of all that stuff, to avoid braking cannon. Or maybe we should learn how to stop caring so much about the stories that shaped our lives, but that’s a stupid argument for another day lol

@@PeanutStrawberry He only went SSJ after it was formed. Goku can’t form the spirit bomb in SSJ but he can use the additional power from it to help push it after completion. In Super, Goku depowered to for the spirit bomb against Jiren same as Kid buu before. So it’s still cannon that the spirit bomb is only possible in base form Z-Super.

Trunks world lacks the senzu beans(i don't think the main worlds one were ready) as korin is dead, and only he can grow them, and the maafuuba jar has failed pretty much every time its been used, even in super, and as it only takes a crack or a lid open, is a terrible way to deal with an enemy, they are not defeated, just shoved off for someone else to deal with.

I loved how this showed what SSB is. Basically trunks has manifested some God Ki, and mixed it with his normal Ki. So by transforming he not only multiplies his normal, but also his God Ki. It’s not stronger then Goku or vegeta but it is there to help bridge some of the gap

I have such mixed feelings about this fight, and this arc in general. On the one hand it's a cool idea for a story, Zamasu and Goku Black are probably the best new villains DBS produced, and (some) of the fight animation is spectacular. On the other hand, a lot of it makes no sense, with confusing timelines, time travel that only seems to be able to cross a specific period of time, and most of all the bizarre power scaling of pretty much all the characters involved, especially Trunks.

And we know there’s multiple universes where zamasi has killed people who may have students sneaking revenge. We only see from Trunks perspective.

Even Goku and Vegeta can use the energy sword like Trunks and Zamasu, in fact Goku uses this technique in the first fight with adult Trunks and then in their rematch in the manga, then to cut off Majin Vegeta's ki attack, and to stop Jiren's energy sphere in the tournament of power Vegeta used the energy sword in the manga to save himself from the fall of the ring during the tournament of Power
