Kinda late on this but the order u should play the game is from 1. Kingdom hearts 2. Chain of memories 3. Kingdom hearts 2 4. 358/2 days 5. Birth by sleep 6. Recoded 7. Dream drop distance 8. Birth by sleep 0.2 9. Back cover 10. Kingdom hearts 3

@@heartlessjay490 I dunno personally I preferred having the backstory first then going to KH2, like I get the impactful thing but it seems weird having the events that happened before KH2 after playing the game

Started part one yesterday, just dropping in here in case no one's mentioned it before, but the order in the collection is slightly wrong due to the original packaging of the separate 1.5 and 2.5 collections, Basically the only thing is that you should go KH1 > Chain of Memories > KH2 > 358 Days The 1.5+2.5 collection puts Days before kh2 because they probably wanted to do one numbered game per collection and didnt switch the order when combining them. Also the Days in the collection is just a movie that cuts out quite a bit (some of it important), so if you want and when it comes to it, theres some ways fans have been getting the original DS game to play really well on PC, or theres like an 8hr comp on youtube that adds the content from the game back in (or a 5ish hours one if you want to skip the gameplay segments, though its lower quality and you could also manually skip through the gameplay in the other one) Just thought id get ahead of all that just in case lol I'll hop back to part 1 🫡

I'd say it was more than likely because they wanted to keep the price point consistent. The way they released it, each collection had 2 games and a movie. If they had done it in release order, It would be 3 games in the first collection and 1 game and 2 movies in the second. At that point people would have been mad over the price point because they would have felt like they were getting less content in the second collection for the same price.

@Syntherus I'd think that's fair about ReCoded, but 358 Days was originally going to have a remake before they realized they had to remake a lot of kh1 from the ground up since they lost the source code (according to Nomura in an interview), which cut into dev time of the Days remake, so they just turned it into a movie instead. So the original idea *was* to have Days on the original 1.5 collection, just as a game. Now, if they just did 1, CoM, 2 for 1.5 and BBS, Days, ReCoded for 2.5, that would have technically been 2.5 as *two* games and one movie, if they had enough time to finish the Days remake for its release. Which, tbf, *is* less value than 1.5, but more value than what we actually got, ie we would have had one more full game across the two collections instead of two movies.

Namora the creator said that he wishes 365/2 days came out first before KH 2 because it explains so much and you are spoiled that something happens to Xion thats why Namora put it before KH2 in the game collection. Also I did a voice acted version of the missing parts on my channel mixed in with the HD cutscenes!

@358.2Rechain can you source the Nomura quote from somewhere? Which interview was it? Also the only one spoiling something here is you by directly naming a character 😭 Like [implied spoilers] . . . That's literally how narrative tragedies work. I guess Shakespeare spoiled the ending of Romeo and Juliet in the first few passages when he wrote "From forth the fatal loins of these two foes/A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life."

@@DaybreakTownGSA no worries i commented the name Xion on your thread only since you've played the games and i made a separate comment leaving out Xion's name but saying the same thing. the source is from a popular KH youtuber that posted 10+ years of constant KH theories, Interviews, and analysis, i believe it was ether the gamerjoint, HMK, or Skywardwing and the video talked about a rare interview with Namora in japan translated from Japanese asking him why 365/2 was placed before KH2 in the ps3 KH 1.5 remix collection (this was before 2.5 came out and the ps4 versions) this was years ago and even then he said he had to do some digging to find the live interview so you can look through their videos but i played that part so many times because it was a question i've always wanted answered and showed it to my friend who was also a KH fan on my iphone 5 (newest iphone at the time if that helps you find the video ) the video focused on multiple misconceived fan questions not just that one but that one was the biggest question i ever had so i remember that as a huge core memory since KH is my one game series that i've been extremely passionate about my entire life

Kingdom Hearts is such a uniquely weird series. I remember starting KH2 back in the day without knowing anything about Chain of Memories. I was completely lost 😆

Hey just like to remind you there's only one more thing you missed I saw nobody told you about, there's a secret story scene. You should check it out before going on to Chain of Memories, go to Castle Chapel at Hollow Bastion and you should see a new portal has appeared

Watch chain of memories then watch KH 365/2 days movie (or I have the DS cutscenes voice acted for 365/2 on this channel if you want to see the full story mixed in with all the HD cutscenes), Namora the creator of Kingdom Hearts said that he wishes 365/2 days came out first before KH 2 because it explains so much and you are spoiled that something happens to a special character, that’s why Namora put it before KH2 in the game collection.
