Thay take forever I have 4 in my pond and I have a lot of grass in my pond keep it up and thank you

I'm with Chris on this 1, I don't see enough grass to worry about. If it was matted up everywhere then yes but I don't think those carp will hurt anything

I have footage on the edit room floor to say otherwise. As I said during the live it turns out it is not grass. Grass carp will eat it but it is a concern because it can quickly overtake a pond. More vids coming that might change your mind

Is it muskweed or chara

Just remember they will breed into more and you may have more then you need at that point

They need flowing water to breed

I have to say, I think it's a bad idea, but a .22 will take them out easy

We try to cull out as many as possible but they are not easy to catch conventionally so in the summer when they hang on the surface we harvest as many as we can with a crossbow.

Invest in a bow fishing setup. Those carp breed like crazy. 10 will turn into 200 before you know it. They will take over that pond
@B_the_Cameraman4 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree. Grass carp will not reproduce in stagnant water. They only spawn in flowing water with temps between 68-86. I do think they will grow fast and large. We will handle that when that time comes
@256bassfishing4 жыл бұрын
I made the mistake of putting in grass carp in my pond many years ago. They slowly started to dominate the pond and eventually I had to take my bow and kill as many as I could because they outgrew the pond pretty quickly and the bass suffered especially during spawn. My dad and I got several to manage the grass that were the same size as you got. Within two years they were about 20 lbs. They would eat the eggs of both the bass and gills and their population wasn't sustainable any longer. However, my pond was only 3/4 acre and 8 feet deep for the most part with some holes that were 10 ft deep.

We put 7 Grass carp in our pond i'd say 30 years ago, theres one left and it looks like a dinosaur, its massive im not sure how long they live or what happened to the others but we have never had any issues with grass, we also got ones that could not reproduce

Be careful how many of those you put in. They did the exact same thing in my local lake to thin out all the grass. Problem is, they put in to many and 18 years later they are all like 30-50lbs each and completely decimated the grass in the lake. Now there is random grass and a flat silty bottom.
@B_the_Cameraman4 жыл бұрын
They recommend 5-10 per acre. We put in 10 for a 2.25acre pond
@Shanester664 жыл бұрын
@@B_the_Cameraman They get gigantic. The last one I harvested was 52lbs...no bullshit. Had to get my salt water scale to weigh him. I shot a fiberglass arrow through him and used it to hoist him from my boat over the railing of my dock to a friend. His weight snapped the arrow.

Brett what's your thoughts on the piscifun spark pro? Thinking about picking one up. Thanks
@B_the_Cameraman4 жыл бұрын
It is really good for lighter baits. Smaller cranks, spy baits, smaller jerk baits. Think of it as a really good in-between of spinning setup and traditional baitcaster. It is considers a baitcast finesse reel
