I flew almost the same routing when I was there in the winter of 2020. 747 pass was really impressive. We had blue skies and no winds the entire time. Impressive that some of these blue compressed ice columns are thousands of feet thick. Puts the dimensions of that range and mountain into perspective. Hard to fathom.

So beautiful Chris. Tears to my eyes too. The only place in real life where I have experienced something similar is flying in the south island of New Zealand in winter, much closer to home here in Melbourne, Australia, but the highest mountain is only about 12,000’ compared to Denali 20,000’. The thing that struck me the most in NZ is the lack of a horizon! Now to get on to MSFS and replicate your flight with Ultra settings! Cheers.

Such a beautiful video, well done! 😎 The most beautiful thing about mountain flying are indeed the stunning views, which are priceless! It is however sometimes quite challenging, especially approaching and departing mountain airfields. We fly a lot in the European Alps and also sometimes in Norway, which have all their special local wind systems and tactics. Unfortunately, several crashes occur in the Alps every year, which could be prevented by better mountain flying education. I guess, it's always good to talk with local pilots on weather systems, which can be quite different from place to place in mountainous terrain.

Just seeing this for the first time. I had the chance to take a mountain flight during summer of ‘94. We landed on Foraker glacier during the summer and the blue glacier lakes were spectacular. There were three climbing treks going up Denali. In 2015 I did some Rockies flying and, while very challenging, the vistas of Alaska are unlike anything else.

Great series! Nice film work as well! I have a new (ish) flight content channel on KZbin, and I’ve had nothing but nuisance challenges with just the audio and video recording aspects, keeping cameras charged, audio recording etc. I have to respect your ability to manage this along with the challenges of your operations in that environment. Very well done! Questions: I see how they cover wings and cowls with blankets to mitigate snow and ice buildup and to try and insulate the aircraft, but there is no mention of engine preheating. How do they deal with this constant requirement? Especially in the instance of a prolonged period on the ground away from base? How would they preheat if the aircraft was stranded overnight? Etc. how are they accomplishing it at the base airport for the first flight of the day and after?
