Ancestor's Aid doesn't blow you out; 4+2+1 power vs 8 toughness lose the wurm, and bounce. the brain that only happens when you're already 0-2 with a nice deck

@@NumotTheNummyYT 38:18 -- right.. Since we're playing "spot the mistakes" for prep.. I think taking Eaten by Piranhas was right.. But not attacking with the Screaming Phantom when you had it in hand was .. not a great mistake but you would have gotten change to kill the Ojer or pushed two damage.. Of course it woul dhave been obvious you have a trick then - so perhaps it was more a sneaky play than mistake hoping that Uchbenback would have been blocked.. Taking Inverted Iceberg instead of Fungal Fortitude.. I think that was bit of a mistake. II can be great - but I have played it in a deck similar to this - and removed it from the deck after the first game where I played ut as I noticed there's almost nothing I'd like to craft it with.. OK you had a puzzle door but that's it. If craft with artifact is not a non cost - Inverted Iceberg becomes quite inefficient.. Draw two where the other card is 6 mana 6/6 vigilance+ .. kinda OK and artifact/descend synergies can push it to good.. But if you need to exile a relevant artifact - even a token -- it's like 7 mana if treasure, map is worth almost a card draw.. and exiling from graveyard kind of negates the descend advantage.. Sure it's possible that there's an artifact in the GY you don't need to be there but it's not a sure thing - more like 50/50.. Fungal Fortitude -- well it's not great but it's kind of an OK combat trick, can be used to shield against removal and if opponent anticipicates it and does not block the creature tou planned on playing it on - you can still play it and it's a good enchantment.. And - it's a permanent for descend count.. sure you'd need death/ETB triggers to make it actually great but I think being a descend deck and being bit starved for removal makes it good enough.

I would have 100% taken bat. I'd say it's equally strong and you don't sacrifice your mana base. But after hundreds of drafts you probably tend to make the more interesting picks consequences be damned.

In drafting phase probably the plundering pirate was a good sign of red being open? You focused on UB descend from the first pack but you didn't really had found good cards with descend.

I'm afraid of picking black now in this format as i had 0-3 1-3 experiences picking black, even with high count removal.

Black is a purely back up color. None of the cards will net you the victory on their own and can even trip your strategy up i you lean too hard into it (Descend with no control over what's being milled doesn't mix for crap!) The second issue is the only snap takes in black are either Mythic (The bat God) or are coveted and force other players into black and as such will get snatched before you see them (Cavern Bat, The -5/-5 at instant speed, Dead weight and even tithing blade.) I've played the format enough that I got a playset of every rare so far and Black can easily carry any other color than red or itself and Red/black only sucks because Descend needing to be permanents while some of your best cards are instants doesn't mix well. I wish WotC would have not went full on coward mode and just let most of the cards that have the word Mill just say Surveil or Explore. They played it too safe and a whole "archetype" just doesn't work. Descend any amount beyond 4 was dead on arrival.

i had alot of runs in dimir so far its my color with the most 7 wins and the only 7-0's ... i love black i love dimir and golgari in this set its so good for me maybe u all stop drafing black makes it better for me so please continue to do so :)

In the last game, it may or may not have been better to Eaten By Piranhas the Ojer after attacks and then blocked it. 1/1 vs possibly getting a rebound on a drawn instant/sorcery.

Is there any permanent based removal besides deadweight? Well, in black there is Tithing Blade, however that is not spot removal and is a nonbo with aura based removal like Song of Stupefaction.

If he had ancestor s aid he would have attacked with eveyrone and in worst case trade the 3/2 pirate for the echo,so it was an easy read he didnt have it. It was always about the draws and the mulligans but this set has taken it to another level,very frustrating... Always admiring your content ,thank you for everything Kenji!

honestly i have to say i love this set its on of my favorite sets of 2023. i didnt liked alot of them but this was really fun. i especially love dimir and golgari the decks feel so fantastic it feels like i play my whole deck every game and people refuse to draft it so i get punched to dead by all teh rares i am getting 3rd or even 4th pick xD dimir is even my most winning color, but then my most winning cards like the ancient one are cards you refuse to pick :)

I know its recent limited, but the fact that Council of Echoes was not mentioned pick 4 concerns me for limited as a whole. I just dislike this format. And the echo of dusk (the right pick) over another chance just makes me furious.

The deck was pretty bad though ^^' you had a good plan on stalling the game, but nothing to look out for. Some card advantage, but too few removals and a lack of heavy hitters/bombs. The Ojer would have helped a lot in that regard, especially since it was the green one that just keeps coming back on its own. Your blue had only a few good cards, so pivoting into Sultai by splashing blue was a worthy option, given that Ojer was the 3rd pick. A risky end to the draft for sure, but one that would have ended up paying off, given the green dinos & cyclers that followed.

I don't play Arena as it's obvious the card draw is biased towards giving you uber shit hands. That and the win to pay out ratio gives me major "Make them lose more so they buy more" vibes. I only play paper now.
