JOHN always wanted to build a Mako Shark. So when he found this abandoned model sitting alone in a field with no rear end and no front clift it was a no brainer: he gave the lost Mako a Mako-ver! Mako Shark was a futuristic concept designed by GM. Although it never made it to market, a watered-down design eventually resulted in the production vehicle, the C3 Corvette. Open the doors and you’ll see that John’s interior is a blast from the past, he’s kept everything original except the plush black leather seats which are from the 80s. It would be easy to remove the plexiglass bottom and look at the pavement. ‘it’s like a unicorn’ John says, apparently a lot of people ask him if they can touch it. He calls it ‘the Michelangelo of rolling art’.

While this cloned replica car is cool in some of it’s design features & subtle touches the owner had done, this vehicle from the back woods certainly isn’t the one off factory GM Manta Ray concept show car, or even a rare, $1 million dollar 1 of 6 built, Baldwin Motion Mako Shark’s, it’s a more commonly customized knock off kit car replica clone of GM’s Manta Ray concept factory show car, that is missing its unique flip up tail lights. There have to be hundreds of these rotting customized Stingrays decaying in back fields, in various states of disrepair, that were built to stand out from all the other run of the mill malaise era mid seventies dog Vettes, that got customized during a fad, with various hideous fiberglass body patch panels, that were made by any number of the defunct aftermarket fiberglass companies, that all used to advertise their wild customized body modifications for kit cars, Dune Buggy’s, VW bug 3 wheeler cycles, and Vettes, at the back of old car magazines…🫤

Not sure what to say. An original, very rare Mako Shark made into something else. Ok. Restored: priceless. Modified: not so much. Not my car, so what do I care? Seems like the wrong direction, but the details in this video were scarce.

I have the Mako Shark Hot Wheel I found in the dirt in a trailer home I flipped, so haha... it's in pretty bad shape but there was also a little red Fiero with American Flag on the hood, so that was neat.
