Good game. Duda likes his knights. I like games where two knights work together, or with ‘monster’ knights. Bishops are awesome but getting the most out of knights takes more finesse, and seeing that is more rewarding, imo. Thanks Antonio for your channel! Pozdrav.

Most of the time, opponent miss calculate about the pass pawn from Carlsen. He was very strong on the pass pawn in every game. I may be wrong.
@Ennar
@Ennar 2 жыл бұрын
Most of the times it's not a simple miscalculation, many of these positions Carlsen gets are draws with perfect play. However, Carlsen is scarily accurate and endgames can be extremely volatile in a sense that one king move can be difference between a win and a loss, so, if Carlsen's opponents are even slightly inaccurate, he has a way of exploiting it and pressure his opponent into making more and more suboptimal moves until it piles up to Carlsen's win.

Nice game question to improve my "vast" knowledge at the end why not just give up the rook for the bishop and try to fight on from there? Once you see you can't stop the bishop why not just trade?
@hannicutie0.0
@hannicutie0.0 2 жыл бұрын
I think it’s because the 2 connected passed pawns are just too strong. And if you sac the rook for the bishop, you even un-double the pawns on the e-file. Of course unlike us who needs to see these things on the board, these GMs are just too strong to know that it’s already a lost position
@ComputerJunkie00
@ComputerJunkie00 2 жыл бұрын
Because then White will just stick his rook on the C-file and Black will never be able to move his rook from that spot. Not even for last-ditch trickery.
@aaronhov9808
@aaronhov9808 2 жыл бұрын
I was thinking same thing. Rook takes bishop pawn takes took then king D6 and what? White rook can go c file but then black rook just goes back to stop that and then it becomes a king side pawn endgame?
@ComputerJunkie00
@ComputerJunkie00 2 жыл бұрын
@@aaronhov9808 Thing is, Black's king can never really leave the D-file either. If it does, White's rook moves there and then both Black's king and rook are frozen where they are. White's king will slowly gobble up Black's kingside pawns and start advancing another passed pawn. If Black's king tries to help, rook to D8 ends the game immediately.

Going back to the discovered attack on the white knight on H4 at the beginning of the game, there was an intriguing option. If after the black knight takes the white pawn on G4 and white takes bishop, the black knight's next move is to take either available white pawn (probably on F2, attacking White's queen and forcing white to take the knight. Black now takes the knight on G6 with the H pawn. So black is down a little (two pawns to a bishop), but white's king is very exposed, which in a speed match can be a real problem. What do you all think? Could Duda have won with this suggested sacrifice? Now had he gone Qe7 instead of castling kingside, the rook on H8 would already be attacking, plus Duda could've then castled queenside, making the knight sacrifice all the more juicier, or so it seems to me.

Qd2 or Qd3 most likely makes that idea terrible Edit: Checked with an engine, it was the suggested move move and the line it would show would lead to bishop pair vs rook and pawn imbalance with some advantage for white As for the reason it wasn't played, one could only speculate unless duda himself says it

You capture other knight with rook check ✔
@dats1ckkkkk
@dats1ckkkkk 2 жыл бұрын
After that, white can play rook d7, grabbing the other knight which comes with a check and from there you can pretty much balance off the position. The only thing that doesn't lose more material is king to h8, but you allowed a rook on the 7th rank for capturing a rook and losing 2 knights, because after king h8 you move the queen and you capture the other rook, having lost 2 knights in the process

I'm also curious about Nxe3 which forks the Q and Rs at 6:50 The other knight is hanging and capturing checks the King so some maneuvering beforehand is prob necessary, but not enough time to do so?

@@KalenCarslaw the d7 knight would be hanging, so Qd3 or something similar to attack the d7 knight with check would cause black to lose 2 pieces. For the move after, rook takes d7 with check and it’s the same logic, so the fork doesn’t work

You’re right that they can be forked. However, the d7 knight would fall with a check, and after the king moves, the queen can attack the other knight on e3 and it can’t go anywhere..

Imagine if duda had played , Knight captures on E3 after RD1 , what a fork on queen and two rooks and bishop as well , a million dollar fork😂 and you cant capture the knight

Someone else asked why duda played a4 before that Rd1 but it seems you are the only one who thinks that they both missed a better move you easily spotted lol, the thing is the knight on d7 is hanging and will be captured with check

@@yotsugiononoki9995 what if knight to b6 before capturing on E3? This way knight protects knight . And d7 check isnt all that impressive , we can block with rook F7🤷🏻‍♂️

@@hamzayousuf4295 Really hope you are just trolling, play N7b6 and virtually anyone that is not a beginner would spot you're preparing for Nxe3 Or are you actually suggesting that duda losing 2 knights for a rook and a pawn would be great for him in that position? In case you're just arrogant, playing Nxe3 immediately instead of a4 is the best choice according to an engine I checked with, but there would still be a line where carlsen can temporarily sac the exchange and keep his advantage Lastly, blocking with Rf7 is not that simple when you remember that c8 is controlled by the rooks only

At the end position, why doesn't Duda play Rxd5? Yes, he's down the exchange, but the b7 pawn is no longer threatened, but Magnus would only be up a single pawn. It seems like Duda could have played that to a draw.
