@Ennar2 жыл бұрын
Most of the times it's not a simple miscalculation, many of these positions Carlsen gets are draws with perfect play. However, Carlsen is scarily accurate and endgames can be extremely volatile in a sense that one king move can be difference between a win and a loss, so, if Carlsen's opponents are even slightly inaccurate, he has a way of exploiting it and pressure his opponent into making more and more suboptimal moves until it piles up to Carlsen's win.

Nice game question to improve my "vast" knowledge at the end why not just give up the rook for the bishop and try to fight on from there? Once you see you can't stop the bishop why not just trade?
@hannicutie0.02 жыл бұрын
I think it’s because the 2 connected passed pawns are just too strong. And if you sac the rook for the bishop, you even un-double the pawns on the e-file. Of course unlike us who needs to see these things on the board, these GMs are just too strong to know that it’s already a lost position
@ComputerJunkie002 жыл бұрын
Because then White will just stick his rook on the C-file and Black will never be able to move his rook from that spot. Not even for last-ditch trickery.
@aaronhov98082 жыл бұрын
I was thinking same thing. Rook takes bishop pawn takes took then king D6 and what? White rook can go c file but then black rook just goes back to stop that and then it becomes a king side pawn endgame?
@ComputerJunkie002 жыл бұрын
@@aaronhov9808 Thing is, Black's king can never really leave the D-file either. If it does, White's rook moves there and then both Black's king and rook are frozen where they are. Going back to the discovered attack on the white knight on H4 at the beginning of the game, there was an intriguing option. If after the black knight takes the white pawn on G4 and white takes bishop, the black knight's next move is to take either available white pawn (probably on F2, attacking White's queen and forcing white to take the knight. Black now takes the knight on G6 with the H pawn. So black is down a little (two pawns to a bishop), but white's king is very exposed, which in a speed match can be a real problem. What do you all think? Could Duda have won with this suggested sacrifice? Now had he gone Qe7 instead of castling kingside, the rook on H8 would already be attacking, plus Duda could've then castled queenside, making the knight sacrifice all the more juicier, or so it seems to me.
@alecnilson65302 жыл бұрын

After that, white can play rook d7, grabbing the other knight which comes with a check and from there you can pretty much balance off the position. The only thing that doesn't lose more material is king to h8, but you allowed a rook on the 7th rank for capturing a rook and losing 2 knights, because after king h8 you move the queen and you capture the other rook, having lost 2 knights in the process
