i think something very important about this game in relation to mvc4 is that the roster isnt all mcu characters. we wont get another mvci marvel roster where its only movie characters that are allowed to be in the game. Thats really good to see and means mvc4 will get to be like 3 where they will get to pick and chose who they want instead of what Disney allows

MVCI was extremely unfortunate in its timing because it released: - before Endgame, where the general population got really hype over having mcu as the only marvel rep - before Disney had rights for all Marvel characters so they wouldn't be advertising characters who they couldn't make movies for every marvel game these days pulls much heavier from the xmen and other characters people like, but Infinite got unlucky as hell and also had no budget anyway so even non-mcu people like Ghost Rider, Nova and comic-accurate Dormammu are there just as asset flips from 3

It's actually been crazy watching youtube content for this game. 2/3 of all content creators (Maybe their editors make this choice) have MvC2 and MvC3 themes for their videos. I can't tell you how many times I've heard that synth beat beginning to Hawkeye's MvC3 theme during hawkeye gameplay.

The art direction in this game is crazy. Some characters are like 12/10 incredible (Psylocke, Moon Knight, Squirrel Girl) but then they kinda butchered the classics (cap, Iron Man, Wolverine). Can’t decide if I’d be okay with them using a similar style in a hypothetical MvC4 or not cause of that. Obviously I’d just be glad for it to exist at all, though

Part of it seems to be that a lot of the classic and well-known characters were intentionally given some bolder redesigns to do something original or different with them as in this game's lore a lot of them (like Cap) originate from 2099. I'd be fine with it in a MvC4 type game because I imagine they'd stick to something more iconic and standard when skins aren't such a big part of the game.

With Cap, I definitely feel like less is more. Having all this weird techno-nonsense all over him takes away from the character IMO. Ironman's proportions just look off, as well as the shape of the helmet's face, and Wolverine just looks kind of silly...

I'd love to play Rivals, but I already know how it's going to go. I'm too much of a tryhard to prioritize my own enjoyment of the game over the thing that gives my team the best shot at winning, so I'll invariably wind up playing a character I hate and getting blamed for everything. I would deal with all this annoying skin garbage for games to be free. I missed sf6 with the homies because I'm not paying that much for a SF game; for context, I'm a air-dasher gamer. Of course Street fighter could get away with this model. I'm unsure if a game with a weaker IP could do the same. F2P Skin models require developers to defer their expected value and adds a level of uncertainty. PS: I never expect this to happen, but developers need to let competitive players turn off skins. It adds bloat to the mental stack.

He even specifically lists how SF6 monetizes is a little extreme. Sounds like you just need to come to grips with the fact that fighting games will never be a mainstream genre. It can't unless they heavily appeal to casuals, which will ruin the category altogether. The Beat-em Up and Hash & Slash genres already exist brother. It's a lose-lose scenario. It really says something when you feel inclined to pre-order fighting games *only* becasue the majority of players will be gone within a few months after release. All that's left after is the hardcore and experienced fighting game players. You really the new or casual player wants to go online then? An important thing to keep in mind is that this isn't a general rule for only a select few dev teams or companies. It's the entirety of fighting games as a whole. Games like these are purpose made for the casual experience. It's how they sell so many skins, and in turn, create so many high quality ones they can charge extra for. It's almost like this is a business that they want to make a guaranteed return on an investment in. It isn't like gameplay is always king (especially in fighting games) and the skins literally don't matter at all. Like, tf you jealous about lol. Go gamble on CS if skins matter than much more to you than gameplay, just like the rest of the degens. The FGC will find literally anything to bitch about, even if it makes no sense when you take more than two seconds to think about it. The problem is that it never makes it past that two second mark with these guys. Let me just ask you a simple question: Do you think Biofreaks would magically become a great fighter if it had amazing alternate skins? If you said yes, you need a doctor, and urgently. Pov: You're very patiently waiting for someone to give you an actual explanation as to why you're wrong instead of just bitching with no real goal.
