That's the problem when you design an enemy chase combined with a die & retry mechanic. The feeling of terror quickly fades out and lets place to frustration and eventually the player just doesn't care anymore.

@@zakbm The Forest solved that problem. You get to die once a game day. Twice, and you get to start over from the beginning. Fun times. The achievements tell me two-thirds of players don't make it past the first night in one piece, and of those that have, one-third don't make it five nights.

This is the kind of game that makes me sad. The development spent a whole lot more on the visuals and the aesthetics but almost zero on the story line and. Also the game using huge limitations on what can and cannot be used as weapons or tactics to get through the level. The fear and frustration comes from the limitations rather than the creepy environment of the game. Such a shame....

I've been subscribed to his channel long enough and know enough about the basics of yt's algorithm to be pretty certain he got his language in check over the last months/couple of years. It's also understandable by the growth of the channel and the wider audience he's got now compared to back then, which would force him to be more family friendly so to speak. In any case I'm safe to say we're all glad these old, raw videos are still up even if they're not construction/simulator games haha

If you keep the wooden crate with you, you can just hold it up between you and the creatures and they won't see you. You can walk right in front of them and as long as the box is breaking your line of sight with their "face" they'll completely ignore you. Even if they do spot you, if you back away and keep the box up they'll just lose you.

Man I really love Josh and how he plays / destroys games, his dedication to pushing games to the limit is absolutely unreal. It’s always funny though when I have a mini-marathon going while studying or something, and an older video comes up and Josh starts dropping the F bomb lmao. It’s so unexpected and such a deviation from the current norm (for what I assume to be monetizing purposes) that it’s honestly shocking lol.
