I think everyone is able to revive all the mons from their original team this one time only, and only Frank and Tobin get a perk because they beat the gym first time. Then from here on put level cap at 5 levels above gym leader's ace.

I have a few ideas as to what to do about the difficulty of the gym battles (everything here could also apply to any trainer deemed to be difficult): What if you were able to control your IVs and EVs? I don’t know how hard that would be to do, but it would be way more interesting than just removing a level cap. It would also impact the Cage matches and foster strategy over brute force. As for when someone’s team gets wiped, what if the opposing team chose 3 or 4 mons that would be revived. So getting team wiped wouldn’t doom the run, but would still be impactful because the opposing team could remove the most threatening mons. In the case that someone’s team is wiped for the the second time against the same trainer maybe the opposing team would just gain perks, but no mons would die. Another way to do it could be that, when a mon dies it can no longer be sent into a cage match, but can still be used in the nuzlocke. This would emphasize the cage matches without making the nuzlocke less important. This could work with the previous idea if instead of the opposing team choosing mons to die, they chose mons that couldn’t be sent into cage matches. Yet another idea would that, if you win the gym battle on your first attempt, one mon on your team would gain a perk in order to reward you. This could replace the opposing team gaining perks when someone gets their team wiped in a gym. This would reward playing good rather than punishing playing bad or getting unlucky. P.S. Been loving the series ❤❤❤

You can easily IV and EV train in this game but it’s a little bit down the road, but once they get there building a mon is really easy. I like the ideia of nuzlock death counting only for the cage matches, otherwise they will struggle having to constantly rebuild their teams because the gym and important trainer battles in this game are actually challenging, if you don’t have a good team you’ll get wiped repeatedly. So maybe finding a balance between having all of their mons for the nuzlock (not for the cage matches though), IV and IV training, nature and ability changes and maybe a self imposed “flexible level cap” for important battles will make the nuzlock part of the series tough but playable.

Personally, I think you guys should all start back from the beginning, make sure you have the games appropriately randomized and as the same version as each other (it’s weird that Ryan has a totally different game), set the level cap to 5 over the ace, and start from a clean slate. At this point, this run through has had a lot of faults (mostly outside y’all’s control). Also, I know y’all said it’s ok that Frank used the Mew, but it legitimately defeats the entire point of a level cap.

I Noticed that Vinny and Ryan have exact same random seed in gym trainers, I spent 6 hours learning to randomize this inspired by this project at got pretty damn good at it by learning it the hard way... The randomization is hard but you can individually weight it, and do a lot more than with the typical tools. If needed further adjustment or "make it easier" hit me up.

In this case I would suggest random pokemon at gyms but type themed, random abilities, evs, items, X% of good moves but still not competitive set like you have here.

Comment about the series&suggestion. I think the challenge is very good, I am sorry you guys lost, and it sucks, but as you said this is peak content. Watching you guys having to try at this is amazingly fun! I suggest you take each gym and do a proper prep session, where you have a real strategy, which would both improve your battling skills, and be entertaining for us. My idea would be that both teams get a perk and that Vinny and Ryan try the gyms with whatever team they can scrounge together. I think an interesting idea would be to (on screen) ask siri a number between 1 and 6, and bring back that pokemon if you team wipe. That way, you have a chance to bring back a power house, but it's up to chance... Or have a two death limit on your pokemon like Luke and Pat do with the Shiny Locke?

Moving forward: I think you should all reset from the beginning of the game so that there’s no mulligans, a fresh start seems necessary here. I think you should implement a “soft” level cap, maybe 5 levels above the gym leaders ace. I also think you guys should be allowed to max out IV’s and choose your EV’s of the Pokémon on your team before each gym battle bc you guys usually choose those when going into cage matches anyways so competition-wise it wouldn’t matter, would just guarantee less deaths. I hope you guys see this and consider my suggestions! I strongly recommend a restart tho, I think it would be a lot cleaner than trying to fix this mess lol

Team Recovery idea for this situation only: Vinny and Ryan should be allowed to catch ONLY 6 new Mons starting from the beginning as if they are restarting the nuzlocke. Whether it's a dupe or not, they have to take it. Level up those 6 new mons to 5 levels over the level cap. Then after they complete the gym, they continue the series and implement 5 level over level cap for gyms ONLY. I think this is fair and it also gives us viewers a new experience with Vinny and Ryan as they team build a brand new team. Also to keep it fair since those guys are getting a complete new team, I believe Tobin and Frank should be allowed to catch 1 new Mon. It can be on any previous route they choose but they have to choose the route prior and take the first Mon they encounter on that chosen route. This idea doesn't make it unfair to ether side since everyone benefits in some way, the series stays alive and fresh, and Tobin and Frank get rewarded for beating it first try without being overpowered. Let"s not throw perks to anyone just yet. Thats my take on this situation. Hope they can see this and consider :) Edit: I commented this before I watched back their live stream and I'm glad they went with this route aside from a little changes. I know they came up with this prior to ever seeing this comment, but I still think they should consider, in fairness, awarding Tobin and Frank for beating it first try and not go the perk route but simply an extra encounter from any route they choose.

I feel like a huge part of the series is the actual cage locke battles, and they're better content if there are interesting options/strategies.If you guys are getting wiped repeatedly I feel like the teams are going to run thin or basically every mon will have perks so what's the point of winning the battles. IMO which isn’t much because this is your alls thing to have fun with, revive all mons from the gym leader fight and just go on for the cage match and either raise or get rid of the level cap, because if frank didn’t have the high level mew, he would’ve wiped as well, if you all were at least the same level as the mew, lv32 I think or even lv30, it might’ve been a completely different story. This game looks awesome and it would suck to not finish it because the gyms were taken to a new level. Have fun with it. When you have fun, we have fun watching. Or revive all lost for everyone from the gym leader, take mons to the new cap/discussed level and have a redo against the gym, then everyone is on equal footing and can continue on. There were missed encounters, but there is still a high chance neither can beat the gym still with the downgraded teams. And with the raised levels, franks and tobin’s outcomes could be different as well. I know they aren’t as bad off, but a team is only as strong as it’s weakest link, and having a partner that has been kicked in the dirt a few times makes things a lot harder. I am fine with whatever you all decide though and I’m sure everyone else here is too, sorry if you’re not and I spoke for you lmao. You have great content, this is an amazing game, and you all are friends having fun which is fun to watch, so do whatever you all need to, we will gladly watch to see what new shenanigans appear

I say if you wipe you get the enemy team obviously gets a point but you are able to get a "rental" pokemon, you can get a pokemon of your choice to help with the gym battle just to help you progress in the game but you can't use it after the gym. You can also add on to it with tiers or something the better the rental pokemon the more points the enemy team gets.

Level cap+3 levels with maxed ivs is my suggestion, and maybe allow yourselves 3-5 extra encounters in the underground to rebuild the teams and then never get anymore encounters there again. I think Vinny and Toe Bean should get an extra perk because Ryan used Slowbro in the gym leader fight even though it died in the gym trainer battles. Also I think Ryan and Vinny should revive the mons that died in the gym leader fight and just raise their levels by 5. And moving forward just take lvl cap off in the gym fights

Raise the level cap to +5 or somehow control your own Pokemon's EVs and IVs to match the monstrosities you have to face, cuz once you get to the Elite Four, no team is surviving that if it's not fully trained. Also for wipes, maybe just have the other team choose one Pokémon that's gone, just like y'all do for the cage matches. It sucks, but it's not completely debilitating like losing your whole team. OR you could do it to where a wipe means your team gets fully revived and they each get to level up one level above the cap. If you lose again they go up one more level, and so on until you reach six levels higher. But for each level higher you had to go, you lose one Pokémon from that team. So it takes you 3 attempts, you gain 3 levels, but then after you win, you lose three mons.
