Now you're thinking with portals. And by portals, I of course mean these portals: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal_rendering The fact that the portal surfaces can link to others that are different size adds a small kink (you have to scale the player character when they go through), but otherwise they're quite standard technology from quite a long time ago. Original Unreal is first game I know where you could manually define disconnected portals at arbitrary angles, not just have automatically generated portals for visibility calcs.

I remember when this game first came out and Jacksepticeye played it, it was quite fun and much much shorter. If you enjoy this then please also play Stanley's Parable if you haven't, although do it without background music. I noticed there was someone speaking, but I couldn't read or hear anything due to the background music and the cuts in the video.

This game has a really important message in the dialogue and gameplay and i get mad because everyone who plays it pays no attention to what the game is really about. Its about taking control of your life and how a change in PERSPECTIVE can really turn a situation around. The whole game being a dream within a dream where you believe everything is spiraling out of control of even the operators of this experiment when really it was all part of the plan to teach you how to take control and turn things around when you feel like youre stuck at a dead end. I really encourage anyone who hasnt played it or has and didnt pay attention to play it and listen to the doctor.
